Local Libraries: A Hidden Gem! Don't overlook your local library. It's a treasure trove of free resources – books, DVDs, and educational programs for kids. My family thought it was a weird idea at first, but it’s proven to be a perfect way to save during inflation times. 📚🎬 #LibraryLover #EducationOnABudget #Inflation #FamilyFun #MadeInNorthAmerica #Hoopla

Chapters Battle Book Bans: Different States, Different Laws From “Green Eggs and Ham” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” to books like “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “Gone With the Wind,” many people have favorite titles they remember from their youth and high school days. Now, mainly conservative-led restrictions on students’ access to some books in school libraries have rallied students and parents to decry those limits, or to praise them. But like many other issues, the number and breadth of the bans depend on where you live. Here’s how many #NASW Chapters nationwide are battling bans on books. https://buff.ly/3UYRtAA #SocialWorkMonth #EmpoweringSocialWorkers #PleaseShare

This is #BannedBooksWeek. PEN America found that more than 10,000 books were banned in public schools during the 2023-2024 school year, nearly triple the previous year. Every student deserves to see themselves represented in books. While every parent has the right to choose the books their child reads, they do not have the right to make that decision for other parents. We all need to do our part and speak out against #bannedbooks https://lnkd.in/eTm3c2ec

Think back to your favorite childhood book. 📚 Reading is more than a hobby — it sparks imagination and sets the foundation #ForEveryChild's development. Yet, millions of children in the U.S. and around the world lack the literacy skills they need for lifelong learning and success. Here's the thing: You can make a difference. By urging your Representatives to co-sponsor and pass the READ Reauthorization Act, you can help provide children with the literacy support they deserve. Take action today: https://lnkd.in/e5kzhYYE
