Great post Pennsylvania Coalition of Nurse Practitioners . NPs are already carrying the responsibility (as we know POCN ) for patient care and prescribing. The legislative progress of Senate Bill 458 in Oklahoma, which aims to grant full practice authority to NPs, will allow them to prescribe drugs without a doctor's supervision. Oklahoma's advancements are a great example for Pennsylvania's current restrictions on NPs’ scope of practice and calls for action to achieve full practice authority in Pennsylvania. • Legislation in Oklahoma is on the verge of empowering nurse practitioners with full practice authority, enhancing healthcare accessibility. • Healthcare disparities between states like Oklahoma and Pennsylvania spotlight the need for uniform practice authority laws for nurse practitioners. • Advocacy efforts are crucial in pushing for legislative changes that expand nurse practitioners' roles, addressing healthcare workforce gaps. #NPslead
Oklahoma is one step away from becoming the next state to grant full practice authority to nurse practitioners! Senate Bill 458 has passed the Oklahoma Legislature and is now waiting for Gov. Kevin Stitt's signature before it becomes law. Meanwhile, Pennsylvania is part of the minority of U.S. states that do not allow nurse practitioners to practice to the full extent of their scope and training. It's time to pass full practice authority in Pennsylvania to help to fill the healthcare workforce gaps, prevent our NPs from leaving to neighboring FPA states, and increase access to care for all patients in Pennsylvania. Join us at the PA State Capitol Complex on April 30 to rally for full practice authority, and to advocate for Pennsylvania patient access!
