Instacart paired with Uber Eats! USA users can now order from the favorite restaurants on Instacart, delivered via Uber Eats. Instacart customers will now be able to use the grocery delivery platform's app to order from hundreds of thousands of Uber Eats restaurant partners across the US, as part of a partnership between the two companies. Instacart said there would be a new tab on its app that would allow customers to choose from a selection of nearby restaurants, browse menus, place orders and track deliveries in real time. Formerly known as Maplebear, Instacart has been investing in platform improvements and ramping up its marketing efforts to attract more customers, particularly in the face of competition from industry giants like DoorDash, Amazon, and Walmart. Following the announcement, shares of Instacart experienced a 4% increase, while Uber Technologies saw a marginal uptick. In contrast, shares of rival DoorDash, the leading food delivery player in the U.S., declined by 2.3%. Here more details about this partnership.

Will Amazon Take Over the Restaurant Delivery Industry? Amazon has expanded its Prime membership to include a permanent Grubhub+ subscription, offering benefits like $0 delivery fees on orders over $12, lower service fees, 5% credit back on pick-up orders, and exclusive offers. This change follows a previous offer of a free year-long Grubhub subscription for Prime members. Additionally, Prime members can now order Grubhub through Amazon’s website and app. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/ea4bEwaB Patricia Vekich Waldron "This is just another service to add to Amazon Prime, which some subscribers may try and/or value, but converting DoorDash and Uber Eats customers to switch is a tough task." Dick Seesel "While I never underestimate Amazon, its reach in the food delivery business hinges on its partnership with GrubHub. (In contrast, both DoorDash and Uber Eats have developed a far bigger network of drivers, restaurants and other retailers.) Amazon is used to controlling its own destiny, so this ship may have sailed a few years ago." Richard George "I really believe this is less about potential dominance in the meal delivery business & more about enhancing the value of the lucrative Prime business. That being said, this is a more reasonable entree into the foodservice business. Albeit, a significantly smaller market share owned by Grubhub compared to Door Dash & Uber, but still a recognized bona fide restaurant delivery alternative."

I saw this article written by Meredith Sandland and Carl Orsbourn earlier. There are so many great points about the struggles between restaurants and third-party delivery. After running Restaurant Success at one of these third-party delivery companies for many years, I know these struggles all too well! There are ways to help ease the pain and make those marketplace orders more profitable! At Apex Order Pickup Solutions, we assist restaurants in creating a secure place for their orders to wait to be picked up (orders are in our lockers 4-6 mins on average). This drastically cuts back on order theft, accidental or purposeful, and creates a safe and secure order handoff between restaurant team members and 3pd drivers. Not to mention, a much better guest experience inside the restaurant, allowing the restaurant team to do what they do best...delight the guests! If restaurants are interested in data regarding their orders we have that too! We complete the digital chain of custody showing restaurants when the order was placed in the locker and when it was picked up and should be on its way to their customer. If you want to explore how this might work for your locations, let's chat! We definitely have ways to make this technology solution easy to use, easy to implement and easy to afford! https://lnkd.in/gH9ismhu

** Instacart and Uber team up to take on DoorDash ** Grocery delivery service Instacart is expanding into the restaurant takeout market through a new partnership with Uber Eats. By adding a new feature for restaurant delivery, Instacart will rely on Uber Eats couriers to pick up and deliver the food. Uber will provide the listing of restaurants, and the transaction will be overseen by Uber’s software, all within Instacart’s app or website. While the deal's financial details remain undisclosed, customers' prices will not change, and couriers will see no payout decrease. This move is a significant expansion for Instacart, allowing the company to add restaurant takeout to its delivery operation without building it from the ground up. However, it is still a curious move as both companies compete with each other over grocery customers. Nonetheless, Uber says its motivation is to “drive more orders to Uber Eats restaurant partners,” while Instacart gets to add a galaxy of new businesses to its delivery operation. #Instacart #UberEats #FoodDelivery #RestaurantTakeout #Partnerships #Technology #BusinessExpansion #MarketShare #Competition #GroceryDelivery

Instacart and Uber Eats are teaming up to bring restaurant delivery to the grocery delivery platform in the coming weeks across the U.S. The move pairs two of the largest food and goods delivery platforms as they each look to charge growth and bulk up profits in a competitive field. Instacart will roll out a new “Restaurants” tab within its app that allows users to choose from nearby restaurants, browse menus, place orders, and track deliveries, all powered by Uber Eats and Uber couriers. “Through this partnership, Instacart customers now have access to both the best online grocery selection in the U.S. and restaurant delivery, making it even easier for them to conveniently tackle all their food needs from a single app,” Instacart CEO Fidji Simo said in a press release on Tuesday. “For Uber, powering restaurant delivery in the Instacart app is another way to help drive more orders to Uber Eats restaurant partners,” the companies said in a joint release. “This new channel also enables Uber to extend its leading restaurant selection to millions of customers across the U.S., including families in suburban markets that use Instacart.” #instacart #ubereats #fooddelivery #partnership #tech https://lnkd.in/gj83_uQa

The speed at which restaurant technology is evolving is simply mind-blowing! 🤯 Digitally-savvy consumers are once again turning traditional business models upside down. Restaurants are in similar position as bricks-and-mortar retail was 20 years ago. Old Way: - Location, location, location 🏠 - High start-up costs 📈 - Word of mouth 🗣 - Protect your margins 🛡 New Way: - Digital-first engagement 👨💻 - Low start-up costs 📉 - Scale your growth using platforms 📶 - Share your margins 🤝 Consumer habits change and restaurants have to evolve with them. Can you afford not to use DoorDash, OpenTable or Afterpay? These platforms are more than a service; they are a marketplace where buyers meet sellers. I'm very excited to see how companies like CloudKitchens can become the "Amazon" of food and beverage. This industry is ripe for disruption - and lots of opportunity to scale at a rapid pace. As with retail, I suspect that restaurants offering an incredible in-store experience will separate themselves from the gargantuan amount of online delivery kitchens that will open over the next decade.

As delivery apps create more cross-segment partnerships, they are adding to the “get it now” culture while quietly creating super-apps that intend to be an all-in-one provider of goods and services. “as on-demand delivery culture has been standardized over the last several years, consumers want to make grocery and restaurant purchases simultaneously. Delivery services are becoming keenly aware of this growing need, so they have begun offering more retail purchasing options alongside restaurant delivery.” #retail #restaurants #delivery #getitnowculture
