"Do we need a better agricultural system to feed the world? The answer is yes." Food is responsible for a third of all global emissions, but Regenerative Agriculture offers a way of reducing emissions from our food system at the same time as regenerating ecosystems and removing carbon 🥕 The challenge for Regenerative Agriculture is one of scale – can it produce enough food for our growing population? Patrick Holden and Adele Jones from Sustainable Food Trust, Julie Greene from Olam Agri, and Alexander Gillett from HowGood all work at the forefront of the agricultural transition - and collaborate through the Sustainable Markets Initiative's Agribusiness Task Force 🌱 To learn more about their insights into this growing movement, watch the brand new tentpole film on our Regenerative Agriculture Hub (link in the comments 👇)

This weekend in the Future of Farming tent at the Three Counties Show Thomas Slattery, Technical Marketing Manager at UK Agri-Tech Centre, chaired a lively discussion on soil health, exploring what farmers can do and why it’s important for farm businesses as well as the environment 🌍 👉Niles Corfield, Regenerative Farming Advisor & Trainer, delivered a fascinating presentation on the Weatherproof Farm. He highlighted examples and data from across the UK, showing how building soil health can address systemic weaknesses in grazing operations. This topic was especially relevant given the current weather conditions. 👉Tim Hassell, Farming and Food Manager at Madresfield Estate shared his experiences four years into transitioning to a regenerative farming system. He has been instrumental in creating a local food brand, developing sustainable practices such as pasture-fed beef and lamb production, and forming innovative partnerships like brewing beer with The Hop Shed. This journey emphasises the importance of taking gradual, place-based steps towards building soil and ecosystem health. 👉Arran Redman, Soils and Natural Resources Advisor with Innovation for Agriculture and the Royal Agricultural Society of England brought valuable insights from his extensive experience. His insights on the importance of knowledge exchange, such as soil workshops and farm walks, for farmers were invaluable. Particularly in discussing projects like Farm Net Zero in Cornwall. His expertise lies in demonstrating the vital role of livestock in soil regeneration and the importance of place-based knowledge exchange. A big thank you to all speakers for sharing their expertise and inspiring us all to prioritize soil health for a more sustainable future! 📧If you want to discuss soil health, email us at: [email protected] #FutureofFarming #connect #inspire #grow #adopt #resilientsystems #intelligentagriculture #acceleratingagritech #agritech #agribusiness #sustainability

What an inspiring day yesterday! Thank you Lucy Johnson from the Green Salon for inviting me to the Ark Organic Regenerative Farming Summit Ark Consultancy & Events. Here are my somewhat raw thoughts 15 hours later: 🐄 Animals & Carbon: For plant based only folks, farming animals can positively impact arable farming systems by increasing soil carbon content with good management. Beware of very simple Carbon Balances 🌍 Organic alone won't hack it: Organic farming doesn't necessarily correlate with increase in soil organic matter; regenerative management targets long term soil health & fertility. 🌡 Measure to learn not to measure: We need to measure the right proxies for soil health and fertility and understand & transparently disclose trade offs in the climate-nature-food nexus. 🤝 Value Chain and Take Off: Without a strong take off strategy and interested value chain buyers regenerative food system transformation could fail at the farm gate. Thank you Andy from Wildfarmed for sharing your thoughts on creating new partnerships with the High Street. 👨🌾 👩🌾 Peer to Peer: Farmers like to learn from farmers and technical knowledge and innovation is happening this way. This is a huge assets especially in the widely connected world we live in that is available to farmers globally. Lets use it Fredrik Galtung - 🕊 On 'Regenerative (who is the holiest?). Loved the mindset around this yesterday and the generosity in spirit I noticed among farmers. Let's welcome everyone to the popular regenerative party. We're all on this together! #Inspiration #Farming #RegenerativeAg #FoodSystemTransformation

Exciting times in the world of agriculture! 🌾At K-State Regen-Ag, we are reaching out to companies and connecting with local farm owners, advocating for the adoption of regenerative agriculture practices. We came across this incredible initiative from Bayer, and it resonates with our commitment to a sustainable future because we are dedicated in order to bring on farming and creating sustainable land! The collaboration with Mars Petcare U.S. is a step towards positive change, with $10M dedicated to transforming farming practices on 200K acres. Let's continue to champion regenerative agriculture and make a lasting impact! Regenerative agriculture is essential now for its ability to address soil degradation, climate change, and biodiversity loss. By prioritizing soil health, carbon sequestration, and water conservation, regenerative practices offer a sustainable solution that aligns with consumer demand and ensures the long-term economic viability of farming. As the world grapples with environmental challenges and a need for more resilient food production, regenerative agriculture emerges as a vital and timely approach. #RegenerativeFarming #SustainableAg #KStateRegenAg"
The future of farming is regenerative. This is our commitment here at Bayer and we couldn’t be more excited to walk this journey with organizations equally committed to doing their part to not just do more with less but do more and restore even more. In the summer of 2022, we launched ForGround by Bayer to help support farmers as they adopt regenerative practices and connect these farmers with companies also looking to reduce their carbon footprint. Our latest collaboration with Mars Petcare U.S. shows this work in action. As much as $10M will be committed to farmers with the goal of changing practices on up to 200K acres. Thank you, Adam Hardie for sharing your great perspective on this collaboration in the Agri-Pulse article below (https://lnkd.in/gYz--X-n). We look forward to continuing to collaborate with Mars and others to bring solutions to farmers that benefit the planet. #RegenerativeAgriculture #FutureofFarming #ForGround

"Do we need a better agricultural system to feed the world? The answer is yes." 🌍 🚜 Our Duna team had been working on a new documentary for RE:TV that explores the importance of transitioning to regenerative farming. 🥕 This shift is crucial for transforming food production from a major carbon emitter into a powerful carbon sink. The documentary also examines how we can scale regenerative farming globally. 🌱 With food contributing to a third of global emissions, regenerative agriculture offers a path to lower emissions, restore ecosystems, and capture carbon. 📊 The big question: Can regenerative farming scale up to meet the needs of a growing population? We hear from the people and organisations who are leading this change — Patrick Holden and Adele Jones from Sustainable Food Trust, Julie Greene from Olam Agri, and Alexander Gillett from HowGood, all who are working through the Sustainable Markets Initiative's Agribusiness Task Force. Discover their perspectives and insights in this new tentpole film on the Regenerative Agriculture Hub 👉 https://lnkd.in/eWg5eSsX It's been a pleasure working with Atomized Studios, and the incredible series producer Bracken Hollings on this one, and hopefully some more in the future! #regenerativeagriculture #farming #foodproduction
