The board of Qantas cannot understand why they are now considered a third rate carrier. When you travel 850klm to your destination travelling at 890k/h and it takes 2 1/2 hours to get there???? You are dictated what they will offer you in relation to food or snacks. It’s vegetarian or nothing. You can get beer , wine , & soft drink but no tea or coffee. I remember why I choose international brands instead of Qantas or Jetjoke.

Michelin Guide: a great example of generating demand for a product/service… Michelin tire company started in France in 1900, but at the time there were fewer than 3000 cars in the whole country. To encourage demand for cars (and hence tires), they made a guidebook about all the good restaurants around the country that people could drive to. More driving = more cars and (especially) tires sold = more business for Michelin. ⭐️A very good restaurant in its category. ⭐️⭐️ Excellent cooking, worth a detour. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey.

What do tyres have to do with fine cuisine? I was in France last week and thinking of Michelin, I couldn’t help but ponder on what could be the synergy between manufacturing tyres and rating fine cuisine restaurants. Here is what I discovered, through a quick search: - Michelin, the tyre manufacturer, was established in France in 1889 by two brothers, Andre and Edouard Michelin; - At that time, there were only ~3,000 cars in the entire country; - Owning a car was considered a luxury; - To get more people on the road and therefore sell more tyres, the brothers came up with the idea to develop a guidebook; - The guide would be filled with maps, information on how to change tyres, and, believe it or not, where to find the best restaurants. The rest is history but essentially, the Michelin Guide was a marketing campaign before it was an icon. Other interesting facts: - The Michelin Guide doesn’t make money; - Local Tourism Authorities pay for it; - 1 star bumps up restaurant sales by 20%, 2 stars by 40%, and 3 stars by 100% on average.
