Honoured to engage Jonathan Dixon, Secretary General of the IAIS - International Association of Insurance Supervisors on the sidelines of IAIS Annual 2024 Conference in Cape Town , to discuss a topic close to my heart: the development of African insurance markets and the critical need to close the protection gap. Africa's insurance markets hold immense potential, but they face unique challenges that require collaborative, innovative, and inclusive approaches. During our conversation, Jonathan and I discussed strategies to foster regulatory environments that enable growth, innovation, and accessibility in the sector. We also explored how global standards, when applied with local contexts in mind, can unlock opportunities to reach underserved populations across the continent. This interaction reaffirmed the shared commitment between the IAIS and other stakeholders to create inclusive, sustainable insurance markets in Africa. I look forward to continuing this important work as we collectively strive to ensure that insurance serves as a tool for social and economic development. #InsuranceForAll #ProtectionGap #AfricaRising #InclusiveInsurance

🌍🌾 We make history in Zambia and Africa! This year, Zambia has gone through one of the worst drought in the country’s history. We’re proud to share that this week, over 500,000 smallholder farmers in Zambia are receiving financial support through Africa's largest-ever crop insurance payout, with a total of 800 million Kwacha (30 million USD) distributed to help them recover from the impact. 32% of smallholder farmers in Zambia are now covered by our crop insurance, providing them with vital protection against climate risks. The milestone could not be achieved without the collaboration with Zambia Ministry of Agriculture, ZSIC General Insurance, Professional Insurance Corporation Zambia Plc. - PICZ, Savenda General Insurance, and Madison General Insurance Company Zambia Limited, Phoenix of Zambia Assurance, Hollard Insurance, Africa Digital Financial Inclusion Facility (ADFI). Together, we aggregate the power of collaboration, resilience, and innovation in the face of climate challenges. #ZambiaPayout #AgriculturalInsurance #ClimateResilience #SmallholderFarmers #Pula #ADFI #FISP #FoodSecurity
