🌟 Celebrating Jamhuri Day and Pula's Journey in Kenya! 🇰🇪🌟 As Kenya marks Jamhuri Day, a celebration of independence and progress, we at Pula reflect on the incredible milestones achieved in partnership with Kenyan farmers, governments, and stakeholders. While 2025 will mark 10 years of Pula, our journey in Kenya has already been transformational. This year, we achieved key milestones that solidify our commitment to building resilience and empowering smallholder farmers: ✅ Launch of an International Insurance Facility: Aiming to insure 200,000 Kenyan smallholder farmers against climate risks, with an ambitious goal to scale to 3.5 million farmers, supported by the Lemonade Foundation ✅ Launch of Human-Wildlife Conflict Pilot Initiative: Tackling over 6,000 conflict cases annually in six counties, and distribute the first payout to communities affected by climate-driven wildlife challenges Kenya has always been a cornerstone of Pula’s mission to build climate resilience and support farmers in securing their livelihoods. 🌾 Kicking off the Crop Cutting Experiment (CCE) Process in West and East Africa🌾 We’re starting our CCE in Nigeria, Malawi, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ethiopia! CCE is a critical step in ensuring accurate yield assessments and building climate resilience. By randomly selecting plots and carefully harvesting, drying, and weighing crops, we generate reliable data to evaluate agricultural productivity. This data underpins the effectiveness of agricultural insurance solutions like Area Yield Index Insurance, ensuring fair payouts to farmers when losses occur. Why is it Important?  ✔️ Accurate Compensation:Farmers receive fair payouts based on real yield losses, reducing financial distress during challenging seasons ✔️ Data-Driven Decision Making:CCE empowers farmers, governments, and insurers with actionable insights to plan better and invest wisely ✔️ Strengthened Farmer Trust:By basing insurance payouts on transparent and verifiable data, CCE builds confidence among farming communities. ✔️ Climate Resilience:Reliable yield data enables targeted interventions to mitigate the impact of climate risks. Through these efforts, Pula is enhancing farmer livelihoods and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. 🌍👩🏾🌾👨🏽🌾 Thank you, Pula team who made this happened Dagmawi Haileyesus Assefa Bersabeh Assefa Faith Mumbi Kinuthia, BBA, MSC, PhD (c) Strategic Management Mesfin Wondwosen (MBA, BSC) Yohannes Teshome Takele Johannes Rob Awegechew Yeabsira Tilahun Nicholas Ochola William Mdemu Lindiwe Karim #AgriculturalInsurance #CropCuttingExperiment #ClimateResilience #SmallholderFarmers #DataDrivenFarming #Pula

What’s the best way to learn about Pula’s business? By getting our hands dirty! Recently, our new team members embarked on a field visit to Nakuru, Kenya, where they engaged directly with farmers and witnessed the impact of our work firsthand. The visit involved activities such as visiting selected sample plots, measuring and placing boxes, and assessing yields to evaluate productivity. Initiatives like these deepen our connection to our mission and reinforce our commitment to delivering impactful solutions that help small-scale farmers build resilience and secure their futures. 🌾
