I took all of you on a run with me today to help clear my head and this thought downloaded... Parents are often faced with having to make very important decisions like: Should my child start Gr 1 or spend another year in reception? Should my child remain in mainstream or move to a remedial school? Should my child move to a vocational or skills-based curriculum? Should my child take medication? And we are at the mercy of professionals and medical practitioners who advise us and tell us what we should do. We have to trust and have blind faith that we are making the right decision. The more information we have at our disposal and the more educated and aware we are, the more empowered and confident we feel. Join the parent masterclass, "No Limits To Learning - Empowering Neurodiverse Minds and never feel disempowered again. Ok, let’s tackle this! If you’ve ever taken one of my courses, you know how much I love a good system, pillar, or category to organize our thoughts, clinical systems, and thinking (and you’re probably laughing right now). There are three big areas you need to be confident in... 1. What happens when the child is “flipping the letters”? 2. How do we address and analyze clinically to know what to consider and how to support the child to get them “there” developmentally and cognitively? 3. How to navigate from a “right now strategy” perspective and navigate the educational approaches appropriately, protecting the child from inappropriate educational demands before they are ready? This can be very impactful if missed and not navigated appropriately.1) What is Happening When the Child is “Flipping the Letters”: Have you been seeing this in your office? Fresh off a presentation to the American Medical Association's CaregiverERG on "How to Raise Culturally Inclusive Kids" and the hyper-specific questions had me 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴...in a good way! Here are my takeaways and learning moments: 1. I have given this presentation dozens of times and I know by now that it leads to nuanced questions. I take this as a positive sign that people are leaning in and want to do their best. 2. I demonstrated through my sometimes too-long answers that there is not one right way to do this, but the goal is to lean in with curiosity and empathy and guide our children as best we can. 3. There is always more to learn and no one knows everything. The only way to grow is to keep learning. #itsthelittlethings #authenticleadership #leadyourselffirst

Delivering the words to say to cope with illness. Certified Child Life Specialist and Founder of Child Life To Go.
This year has held a lot of "what ifs" for me, filled with long conversations huddled around my kitchen table with my closest people, dreaming about possibilities. What if parents were empowered with words to share with their kids when it feels like there are none? What if maxed-out child life specialists had access to grab-and-go teachings and tools for their patients? What if they felt fully confident as experts in diagnosis education? What if families had access to coping tools and conversation starters to aid in their healing and processing even after discharge from the hospital? What if purpose could be found in pain? What if my degree in education and counseling found a perfect blend? What if I tried something new on this already existing platform? What if... coming soon.

The Whole-Child Approach is an overarching philosophy and cross-disciplinary framework. It is based on the belief that integrating all related services into a Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Model is the best way to support students. When you partner with PTS, we place highly trained, dedicated therapists and service providers in your school and act as an extension of your special education department. Our partners have access to an ever-expanding library of resources, including Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 interventions. Additionally, we offer training to teachers and paraprofessionals, empowering them to integrate therapeutic strategies into their classrooms. Through this process, we guide them on how and when to refer a student to therapy or related services, ensuring only the right students end up on caseloads. https://lnkd.in/ebnZ8wFi #LRE #LeastRestrictiveEnvironment
