Meta has just revealed "Orion," the most advanced AR glasses yet. But beyond the impressive technology, there's a key lesson for most hardware companies in how Meta handles this launch. Orion is a prototype, not a finished product you can buy now. You might never be able to purchase it... Yet, Mark and Meta are willing to show an unfinished product to the public, without worrying about competitors copying their design or hurting their brand. By letting select users try Orion, Meta plans to learn, make improvements, and build a better product based on real feedback. This "prelaunch" strategy helps them collect useful insights, generate excitement, improve the product, and even cancel it if necessary. Most hardware companies, by contrast, operate in isolation and secrecy—only launching when executives believe the product is ready. Customers then pay full price for something that might not meet their expectations, leading to disappointment and returns... Meta's open approach avoids this. Instead of disappointment, customers become excited because they're part of the co-creation process. This practice sets a new standard for the industry. The future of hardware is agile, and Meta is showing how to succeed in this new era. I hope more companies will learn from this, involving 𝚏̶𝚘̶𝚌̶𝚞̶𝚜̶ ̶𝚐̶𝚛̶𝚘̶𝚞̶𝚙̶𝚜̶ customers early to co-create better products. At Prelaunch.com, we fully believe in this vision and are creating tools to make it happen faster. 👉 Discover more at enterprise.prelaunch.com #Orion #Meta #Prelaunch #AR

A year ago, I wrote about Meta forming a continuation pattern, signaling potential for explosive growth. After countless hours studying these trends, identifying opportunities becomes second nature. Yet, when I’d share my insights, the reaction was often dismissive: 'Are you crazy? Why would I buy Meta at $300? Last year it was under $100!' Fast forward to today, and the question remains: Will those same people be willing to buy at $600? Meta is an incredibly impressive company. It's worth USD 1.42 Trillion and has three different apps with more than 1 Billion daily users. They also have another hit coming with their Rayban AR glasses, building a new computing platform for the future. Despite everything wrong with the company and everything we can blame them for, what Mark Zuckerberg built is pretty impressive. The Acquired team interviewed Zuckerberg on stage for 1.5 hours, diving into Meta's strategy and how it has evolved. Meta Customer Service: A Growing Concern Is anyone else noticing a decline in Meta's customer service? It feels like reaching out and getting a timely, helpful response is becoming increasingly difficult. Are they facing staffing shortages in their support team? I'm curious to hear other people's experiences. Have you encountered similar issues recently? Let's discuss and see if there's a way to improve this situation. During my (too short) couple years at #Meta before returning to #Google, I was really impressed by Meta engineering culture centred around Tribes/virtual teams, high IC autonomy, and a bias toward failing fast. I’m supporting a culture change effort that would benefit from learning more. Can anyone point me to material I can share about #Meta #Eng culture? (Edit: thanks everyone for the DMs with pointers to articles!)

"𝗬𝗼𝘂'𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆" Mark Zuckerberg reflects on why Meta has thrived and stayed relevant while others have fallen behind. In a recent interview, he shared a hard truth: many companies that label themselves as "technology" companies aren’t actually built like one. CEOs who don't understand the tech, management teams lacking engineering and product expertise—that’s not a tech company. "𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘥𝘶𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘦𝘭𝘴𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴𝘯'𝘵. 𝘈𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵, 𝘪𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵'𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘢𝘮, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘢 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺." At Meta, the success is driven by a balance between product and technology competence. Half of Meta's leadership team rose through the technical ranks, fueling innovation from within. 💡 The key lesson? Being a technology company is about more than just having tech products. It’s about building a foundation so strong that it allows you to create anything, from social apps to revolutionary hardware. As Mark says: "𝘞𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘰𝘯 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭 𝘯𝘦𝘵𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬. 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘨𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩 𝘧𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘦𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘶𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘬𝘦𝘦𝘱 𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘦 𝘥𝘰." #TechLeadership #AcquiredPodcast

I am beyond disappointed with Meta After countless attempts to retrieve my disabled account with them, I am beyond disappointed with their lack of response and accountability. It’s been more than a month now, and despite my efforts to get my account reinstated, all I’ve received is radio silence. What’s worse—my funds are stuck in that account, and there seems to be no urgency from their side to resolve this. As a long-time user and customer, I expected better service, transparency, and communication from a company of Meta's stature. If this issue isn’t resolved soon, I will be left with no choice but to escalate it further. Hoping for a swift and fair resolution. If anyone else has faced similar issues, let's connect and share experiences. If somebody has a way out to this situation, please help me with the same. #Meta #CustomerSupport #AccountRecovery

📉 Meta's earnings call last evening revealed both opportunities and challenges. Despite solid Q3 performance—driven by robust user growth, advancements in AI, and significant ad revenue increases—the stock saw a dip post-earnings. With the stock nearly doubling in the past year, a pullback seems natural, especially with a P/E ratio at 30. 🌍 The numbers are impressive. Meta now reaches 3.2 billion daily active users, nearly half of the planet. Its influence and reach are unparalleled, and its new AI model, Llama, is showing strong adoption across multiple industries. It appears the primary reason for the post-earnings slide is the company’s high capex guidance for 2024, as Meta continues to heavily invest in both AI and Reality Labs. While these investments are critical for future growth, they present near-term profitability pressures. You know where all that capex is going! 💪 Meta has been a poster child for becoming leaner and more efficient. Over the past year, they’ve demonstrated disciplined operational focus while still driving tech innovation forward. Meta's “#FounderMode” strategy is clear: doubling down on next-gen tech, from AI to AR, while driving efficiency and long-term value. 🔍 My perspective? Meta’s ambitions are bold and will likely drive industry-wide advancements in AI and beyond. Sustained success will hinge on precise execution and continued operational discipline. Meta has demonstrated they are masters at this. #Meta #AI #FinancialMarkets #TechEarnings #Innovation #FounderMode
