Hepatitis A occurs worldwide but is more common in parts of Africa, Asia, Central - and South America and more specifically in areas where sanitation may be poor. For most travellers exposure to Hepatitis A is from eating contaminated food or water. This is a risk even in up-market hotels where the food handlers may carry the virus.

Today is #WorldPopulationDay. 🗺 As our world's population grows, so do the challenges we face. Food insecurity and malnutrition are often overlooked as critical global issues. Yet, these crises can destabilize nations, fuel conflict, and hinder human development. As Will Moore, CEO of the Eleanor Crook Foundation (ECF), powerfully stated, "As long as families can't put food on the table, as long as children are dying from malnutrition, we will never live in a peaceful world." ECF collaborated with the Atlantic Council last October to explore cross-cutting solutions to address hunger and malnutrition in an unpredictable world, a challenge that has only grown more urgent. 📹 Watch the replay here. 👉 https://lnkd.in/djz9NDw3

“Acute malnutrition among children and women continued to deteriorate, especially in conflict-affected areas. In 2023, over under 5 years old were acutely malnourished in 32 food-crisis countries with data, of whom nearly 10M had severe acute malnutrition. Some 60% of these children were in the ten largest food crises” This is one of the key findings in the 2024 Global Report on Food Crisis jointly published by the Food Security Information Network (FSIN) and the Global Report on Food Crisis (GRFC). The report further stated that Acute food insecurity is rarely driven by a single shock or hazard, but rather by the interaction between shocks and underlying poverty.
