Dev Rel @Speakeasy | Working on DevEx for every API

I have massive respect for Colin McDonnell's work on Zod, and Bun. To hear that he's in awe of our #devrel is indescribable. We've made (and are making) so many mistakes, but we've also learned loads. Here's a few takeaways👇 - Don't seriously invest in branding until you have PMF: There's a lot of good templates you can use in the meantime. Without clearly understanding your buyer and your product's relationship to them, you can't effectively create your brand. - Anecdotes > Data: Ask everyone how they found you. It can be a lot more complicated than what the referrer URL shows. - Distribution is as important as content creation: if you write they will come, doesn't really work. Budget more time than you think wise for content distribution. - Docs are equally important as blog posts: we don't really distinguish between the two from a content creation standpoint. They are held to the same quality bar. Where something lives is really just related to its intended purpose and relationship with the product. I'm sure there will be loads more learnings in a few months time, so I'll keep noting them as we go.

Yes to PMF > branding. Too many pre PMF startups waste tens of thousands of dollars and hours of founders time on website redesign when they should be talking to customers
