Some key takeaways from Amanda Coleman for organisations & communicators from the #Grenfellinquiry report here. Crucially, organisations need to speak to those they’re there to serve and support - and do so frequently, in ways that reach people (and I’d add in words and language that are plain and clear)…
Crisis communication consultant, Author of Crisis Communication Strategies and Everyday Communication Strategies, helping with crisis, risk, recovery communication and issues management
There is so much in the report today. What matters is what happens now. Will authorities listen t o the voices of those who were there and act? As communicators we all have to look at what we do, how we can challenge when we are asked to do things that we are not comfortable with, and be clear what matters. This is one recommendation for local authorities that is important for any organisation dealing with a crisis. Speak frequently and in ways that reach people. There is so much more to do and there is no excuse for failing to act now. #grenfellinquiry #crisiscommunication

Every day we are asked to make important decisions, which can be simple or life-changing. But how do you define important? Is finding the right title for this manifesto more or less important than deciding whether to move into a new house? We spend hours puzzling over problems that are seemingly very critical to us, but often critical issues can be addressed and simplified using collective intelligence. 🪐 Read our full manifesto here ➡ https://lnkd.in/d_wNE6fR

With the shifting jobs market and economic headwinds building, employers in Kansas and 26 additional states have a great layoff aversion tool should the need arise... Short-Time Compensation (STC), also known as work sharing or shared-work program, is an alternative to layoffs for employers experiencing a reduction in available work. STC preserves employees’ jobs and employers’ trained workforces during times of lowered economic activity. STC allows employers to reduce hours of work for employees rather than laying-off some employees while others continue to work full time. Those employees experiencing a reduction in hours are allowed to collect a percentage of their unemployment compensation (UC) benefits to replace a portion of their lost wages. STC cushions the adverse effect of the reduction in business activity on workers by averting layoffs and ensures that these workers will be available to resume prior employment levels when business demand increases. Currently, 27 states have STC programs established in law that meet the new federal definition with 26 having operational programs (Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Iowa, #Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Vermont, Washington, and Wisconsin). #economy #jobs #EmployeeRetention #WorkShare #SharedWork Kansas Department of Labor Kansas State Council of SHRM, Inc.
