Marketing experts make more than drilling engineers. Here are the US averages and does not include bonuses or shares: Average Drilling Engineer III makes $156,614 annually. There's a large discrepancy in the oil and gas community when it comes to prioritizing marketing. Industries outside of O&G pay much higher for marketing expertise. What I've noticed is O&G hires an inexpensive marketing major who ends up being a glorified admin. Why is that?
