There is one issue in America that impacts every life... FOOD. According to Eric Kessler in this Food Talk Podcast episode, "By addressing food and agriculture, you touch small business owners and entrepreneurship, you touch rural economy, you touch access and equity, you touch conservation and climate change." Food and agriculture is one of the latest issues falling prey to partisanship on Capitol Hill. Local municipalities will have to take up the mantle of protecting their community's access to food. I hope to see leaders like Andre Dickens, Mayor of the City of Atlanta, and Rochelle Robinson, Mayor of the City of Douglasville, GA enact plans and policies that address these issues. Eager to be a part of the discussion. Take a listen to this episode to get more information on the impact of the proposed Farm Bill in Congress now. #foodtalk #foodequity #healthdisparities #immigration #climatechange #foodbill #foodandagriculture Listen here: Food Talk Podcast Episode with Eric Kessler

❓It's the big question. How can we move to fossil-free food❓ In our final Episode 7 of the #FarmToFork podcast, our Raj Patel reflects: "[We need to] pushback against the most egregious things that… national governments are doing wrong and create the marketplaces in which it's possible for #farmers to be paid well and for consumers to be able to buy #sustainable #food for less. And when those consumers are perhaps the local school system or the local clinic system, then you've got a pipeline of purchasing food from farmers at top dollar, their labor is recognized, the #soil is healed, and you get people eating better through public procurement. "And this new infrastructure will require philanthropic investment, it will require protests to stop the #fossilfuel money going into the crappy system, and it will require direct #action." 🎧Listen now: https://lnkd.in/e9DFV9YR #FoodSystems #Climate #Energy #FossilFuels #food #farming

In this episode, Dustin Kittle and I delve into crucial issues facing small farms and food production quality. We shine a light on corruption within the US Department of Agriculture and the concerning trend of agricultural land ownership shifting to foreign entities. We discuss how large corporations receive hefty government subsidies while small farmers struggle to stay afloat, and the significant control foreign governments and corporations wield over American farmland. We also uncover unethical practices in agriculture and water management, such as farmer exploitation through unfair assignments and inadequate oversight. Our conversation stresses the urgent need to address these issues to promote sustainable agriculture and responsible water management practices. Join us as we explore these critical topics and advocate for a fairer, more sustainable future for American agriculture. #kennedyshanahan24 #rfkjr #kennedy24 https://lnkd.in/gerRG95y www.teamkennedy.com #rfkjr #rfk #teamkennedy

One of the main findings from Our Land and Water is that we now know where mitigation strategies won’t be enough, and where land use needs to change to meet New Zealanders’ expectations for water quality. This episode of our new podcast focuses on how we can add more diversity on individual farms – not just what else we can grow, but how we can grow a more diverse mix of products on a small scale. This can add resilience to our changing climate and to the volatility of commodity prices, and we’ve tested some good approaches for connecting farmers to consider diversification options. However, the scale of change required to meet our water quality ambitions poses a huge challenge in some parts of New Zealand.

One of the podcasts I listen to with some frequency is Farm4Profit Podcast one of the most listened to and entertaining ag podcasts out there. This episode hit home for me on a different level than others--what can employers do to help increase employee retention (at about the 53 minute mark)? The lessons apply to agriculture and every other industry. Here, the podcast guest has been employed by the same farmer in Canada for 20 years. Hourly employee. No equity. Plenty of other opportunities to make more money elsewhere. So why stay? 1. The owner appreciates his efforts and regularly communicates his gratitude. "A 'thank you' goes way farther than any dollar amount will." 2. The owner models the expectation and commitment to excellence and hard work. "[The owner] will work just as hard as anyone else." 3. The owner keeps the employee in the loop on the direction of the business and solicits the employee's input on decisions both large and small. This isn't rocket science, but easier to promise than practice. #employeeretention
