SoSha's mission is to build a repeatable, organic alternative to advertising and in doing so make organizations understand that choosing to redirect part or all of their ad dollars to curating and engaging their community will help them build a healthy, sustainable growth engine that is built on loyalty and deep networks instead of the transactionality of the existing advertising model. I've just had a fascinating convo with my colleague, Areti Livanos, diving into the numbers we see from our customers and wanted to share these (still raw) but exciting data points.💡 One of the top SoSha users is spending 4 cents per every organic website visit they're generating through organic social shares driven through SoSha toolkits. The two platforms this organization is driving most of the clicks on are Whatsapp and Facebook. While I haven't yet been able to find a reliable source for Cost Per Click for Whatsapp (if anyone has those, please let me know!), the average cost per click for advertising on Facebook is $0.26 – $0.50. So, our customer is generating clicks at 10-20% of the cost of advertising through the power of their own community! Want to know the even better news?! 🤩 This cost through SoSha is likely to go even further down as the organization is continuing to engage their community and increasing the volume of social shares they're driving. 📈

Obviously, we know there are only two ways to create sales. 1- paid ads 2- organic marketing while we can argue back & forth on which one is more efficient? there is a case to be made for organic marketing that even if you decide to go the paid ads route, you'll still be forced to build a digital footprint. On one hand, to reach larger audiences. you want to already be active so you can leverage the look like audience and grow exponentially. on the other hand, the general rule of thumb is you put an ad and you convert may be 5 to 10%. What this means is the rest 90% you'll need to do some serious followup so you can get a chance to convert them. To do that you can keep investing in Ads. or, you can go the organic route. what has been your experience?

Here is the reason why your food brand's organic social media reach is MORE EFFECTIVE than PAID ADS: Paid ads cannot guarantee that people will watch your content. They just make sure that it shows up in front of viewers. But the reality is... Nobody goes on social media to watch ads. Do you? It actually comes off as off-putting for many, because it feels forced, so they just skip it at the speed of light. Viral social media content on the other hand (especially in video form) is undeniably tempting to click for almost everyone. Simply the fact that it has gone viral piques our curiosity. Because it wouldn't have gone viral in the first place if it wasn't worth the precious time we are going to spend watching it. Moreover, social media algorithms reward high quality content with more and more impressions. Paid ads, in contrast, don't get amplified like that, regardless of how good their content is. P. S. Has your food brand ever had a viral post on social media?

Organic social is one of the few platforms where audiences voluntarily engage with advertising content. While paid media aims for similar results, no media buy guarantees views in organic—work either lands with your audience or it doesn’t. That’s a recipe for excitement and unpredictability, a big part of why working in this space is so addictive. And another thing we’ve discovered: learnings from organic wins and fails inform better paid ads.

TikToker ReesaTeesa is showing us how it's done on organic social and you can't change my mind. First, if you aren’t aware of what I am referring to, TikTok user ReesaTeesa gained over 1 million followers and millions of views and likes in less than a week by sharing her personal story of marrying a pathological liar through 52 5-10 minute videos. She is a regular person, not a celebrity or influencer. This level of organic growth is rare, if not nearly impossible, on any platform at this point. And every last bit of it was filmed on the front camera of a phone without so much as a mic or a ring light. But this isn't a think piece about strategizing around going viral or trying to replicate what she is doing, because there are many reasons you can't replicate it (nor should you try to). However, there a many qualities about her series that apply to anyone who claims to be serious about organic social. 📹 People aren't stopping the scroll for production value, and frankly, the more your content stands out as highly produced and funded by a marketing budget, the quicker people are going to scroll past ⭐ Consistency continues to be a huge asset. People are following her. They are returning to get more of the story. They are looking forward to her posts. There is a sense of community among people watching these videos. ☝ Creating for the platforms always wins, ReesaTeesa used long form video without any trending audio, and that is exactly what TikTok as a platform wants. Now, I do not think she was doing this strategically, but I do think she knew how to use the platform as an end user and so she was able to just show up as she was and focus on her story. 🆕 Platforms change all the time.. TikTok started as a short-form, trend-based channel, and we have actively seen the shift to a more content-based channel since the pandemic started. With Universal removing its music catalog, TikTok likely won’t be prioritizing things that use sound because as we’ve learned through the silencing of millions of videos, they can’t always control that content. They can control native, original content. The goal isn't to abandon all restraint, never follow any brand standards or to go for shock value, but to realize that traditional formats in the form of highly produced marketing assets fail to engage at even a fraction of a percentage of videos like ReesaTeesa’s. There are a zillion paid ads that interrupt the scroll already. Why not align your social strategy with the evident preferences of millions? It’s a business imperative to speak to your target audiences on organic social in the same way that ReesaTeesa is talking to people. It's a business imperative to *create* for the channels themselves and show up authentically. Bottom line, brands who figure out how to blend into the organic feed in such a way that people just feel like they are consuming more content will win in the end.

Why bother with consistent organic posts when I can pay for digital ads that reach my target better? Great question - and the answer to that is CREDIBILITY and building a relationship with your audience. For me, if an ad pops up and I'm interested in their offer, I go straight to their profile to learn more and see if they're a company I want to support. If I find that their organic content - the normal posts on their page - is inconsistent with their messaging or seems as though they're not very active or seem stagnant, it makes me wonder if I can trust them or not. People want authenticity and connection. Paid ads are great for special offers or launching a new product or to boost visibility in certain areas. But you need that organic, REALNESS to encourage your audience to stick around and engage! When you invest in digital ads, you want to make sure you have a credible place for viewers to learn more and relate to your brand better. I work with my clients to define their messaging and branding better, understand their target audience, establish clear messaging and offers, and stay consistent and real on social media. Many brands are all over the place in terms of how their paid ads and organic content sit alongside each other. Brands need to get them working better together, remove the silos, and think 'one social'. Paid ads can get you reach, but tend to be less like what people are there to watch. Organic content fits better with what people want to watch, but is often inconsistent in terms of reach, or too poorly branded, to make an impact on the brand. It’s why so much of the advertising effectiveness research suggests that ads and content need to be 'fit for platform' or ideally platform-native to start with. You need to work out how to get the 'best of both'. So it's interesting to see TikTok thinking about how paid and organic can work in harmony and be planned together better through the funnel (new report, link in comments).

If you have 10K+ IG followers, you have a huge advantage for paid ads. How? 1️⃣ You've somewhat figured out what content is getting people's attention on the platform. Think about it, when you're scrolling on IG, and something grabs your attention in that first 2-second glance, do you immediately know if it's an ad or not? Probably not. The same type of content that grabs attention organically, grabs attention on paid. Some of the best ads start as organic posts. 2️⃣ Your organic business profile is connected to your personal profile which is connected to your ad account 🤪 I'll explain 👇 This means the paid algorithm has gotten to know your audience, even if you've never run ads before, and never even logged in to the ads platform! This is a HUGE leg up when starting ads. 🚀 So! If you have 10K+ organic followers and you haven't tried ads yet, they could be an easy answer for growth.
