How can governments deliver on climate goals while managing all the different activities taking place at sea, from fishing and shipping to marine conservation and offshore wind development? Marine spatial planning (MSP) is often regarded as a silver bullet, promising to optimise the number, scale and location of offshore wind projects while minimising conflict with other stakeholders. The reality is more complicated. Our latest policy briefing shares three principles that governments can use to ensure that MSP leads to efficient and responsible offshore wind development. Second day of the mission with CRE and MEDREG - Mediterranean Energy Regulators : visit to the national control center of France (CNES) of RTE (Réseau de Transport d'Electricité). Second conclusion: it is completely absurd to apply law 462/2002 without having a fully-operational minute-accurate National Control Center (NCC) at EDL.

This is a great example of leveraging established mature protocols to accelerate Alberta's position in development and production of mineral resources. Where many other regions may need to start with new regulations, Alberta has mature framework to work from. Additional as opposed to creating new government entities at the tax payers cost, leveraging established entities, with minimum kit mindset to support new integration. Good governance.

🌬🚢 Wind propulsion is a key solution in achieving decarbonisation goals in the maritime sector. It was recognised as a net-zero technology in the EU Net-Zero Industry Act. However, its status as a green technology under the EU Green Taxonomy remains unclear. 🤔 🔎 Concretely, the screening criteria established in Delegated Regulation (EU) 2023/2485 do not fairly represent the green credentials of vessels equipped with wind propulsion systems. More details in our letter below. 📢 Therefore, SEA Europe urges the European Commission to evaluate potential amendments to the screening criteria to account for the specific technical characteristics of vessels using wind propulsion techniques. 🌊⚓
