I’ve been closely following the renovation of the Hakaniemi bridge all summer, making this project literally close to home (I often take this bridge to downtown). It’s fascinating to consider the fate of the concrete used. From a life cycle assessment (LCA) perspective, this project highlights the importance of choosing wisely when commissioning an LCA study. An LCA that uses project-specific data gathered by analysts familiar with construction methods often results in a lower impact and higher quality assessment. In contrast, a generic LCA yields generic results and, in this case, would NOT account for the 85% reduction in CO2 by using the concrete as a carbon sink. https://lnkd.in/dBzT2P56

🚆 First Passenger Service of Mariyung (New Intercity Fleet)! 🚆 With the Mariyung in passenger service, we’re excited to showcase the great industrial design and thinking that has gone into this product. I had the privilege of working closely with HYUNDAI ROTEM, Brandt Clifford and Tim Rugendyke on the interior and exterior design, passenger seats and accessible features of Mariyung. Getting the accessibility aspects right was not just a customer experience priority - it represented a critical opportunity to implement policy and set a new standard for the fleet at design stage. Achieving this required extensive user engagement and iterative design, utilising mock-ups to refine and validate solutions. Making accessible areas inclusive was accomplished through thoughtful integration of features, colour and signage. Designing for a diverse range of users can result in compromise… but not on this train! The overwhelmingly positive feedback strongly supports this. Seeing the hard work of the entire team come to life, and knowing it makes a meaningful difference for those who use it, is incredibly rewarding. At Ferrovia, we have in-depth understanding of DDA and DSAPT legislation and how to design for it – our approach is user-centred and hands-on. When I look at such architectural wonders, the thought about tremendous effort involved in whole story in making and accomplishing The Petronas Twin Towers, Malaysia leaves me wondering in infinite space. 🗼 Imagine this: You've just closed a monumental deal on a project that will redefine the Kuala Lumpur skyline. The pressure's been on, negotiations were intense, but you and your team pulled it off. Intense right? 🌇 This trip isn't just about relaxation. It's a dedicated learning experience. By closely examining these structures, I want to delve deeper into the minds of their creators. What were their goals? What problems were they trying to solve? By understanding the "why" behind these designs, I can not only appreciate them on a deeper level, but also translate that knowledge into my own work. 🏢 Success in the AEC industry isn't just about the next big project. ABS Joins Business Forum on IKN Development and the Impact on Local Industries   Jakarta, 4 September 2024 – PT Asphalt Bangun Sarana (ABS) actively participated in this week’s Bisnis Indonesia Business Forum, which focused on the theme: "Realisasi dan Kelanjutan Pembangunan IKN, Industri Lokal Ketiban Berkah?" The forum, held biweekly, brought together key stakeholders involved in developing the new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN).   The discussion featured high-profile speakers, including Indra Jaya Manopol, Deputy Chairman VI of Gapensi; Troy Pantouw, Special Staff for Public Communication of OIKN; representatives from ADHI and PT PP, the Indonesian Concrete Association, and various industry players like ABS. The session was moderated by Fahmi Achmad, Deputy Chief Editor of Bisnis Indonesia, providing a platform for businesses and industry leaders to explore the ongoing impact of IKN on local industries.   During the nearly two-hour forum, discussions revolved around the progress and future of IKN construction projects. Troy Pantouw emphasized the government’s commitment to the project, reassuring participants by stating, "Do not worry, IKN will continue as planned. It has been established in Law. For now, there are 31 investors, and keep more that would agree to invest in IKN"   PT ABS, as a vital contributor to Indonesia’s infrastructure development and a key player in IKN projects, remains dedicated to supporting the nation’s growth through high-quality products and services.
