🪵From Wood to Web with TimbeReality🌐 Throughout the year, my team has been visiting timber companies across KL, Selangor, Perak, Penang, Johor, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan. We shared about TimbeReality and how they can leverage on virtual tours as an immersive 360° presentation. For us, engagement trips like this are important for us to understand our customer's pain points, build stronger relationships, and tailor our solutions to meet their specific needs. We gained valuable insights into their challenges and aspirations, enabling us to enhance our offerings for the timber industry. TimbeReality is an ongoing digital transformation initiative by Actsugi and the Malaysian Timber Council - MTC. It highlights the virtual showrooms and factories, while displaying quality furniture and timber products from their TIMB3R Design Incubator Programme. "Orang Indonesia Paling Malas Jalan Kaki,..." "Indonesians are the laziest to walk,..." (Kompas, 2024) Why does this happen? Most of the time, the main reason is " blamed" on the poor pedestrian infrastructure provided. Is that really the case? Here I share a little video footage of walking activity in the process of shifting modes (Mass Rapid Transit/MRT menuju Light Rapid Transit/LRT Dukuh Atas, Jakarta, Indonesia). General conditions: 1. Walking distance 500-600m 2. Characteristics of pedestrians on weekdays: Commuting workers (Afternoon) 3. Good in wayfindings, signage, and ramps. 4. Good in pedestrian refuges, tree/plant/landscape, waste bins, and placemaking. 5. Complete enough with access to food and public spaces. Impression: Seemed far enough for me as a person who was forced to walk (captive). But another impression is that the good assessment in several aspects (complete, safe, comfortable, and humanist) becomes an excuse and does not make me "kapok" or deterrent / surrender in walking. Urban areas in Malaysia concentrated in major cities like Kuala Lumpur with population of around 1.5 million, there are a handful of sizable cities with populations between 500,000 and one million including Seberang Perai, George Town, Ipoh, Petaling Jaya, Shah Alam, Iskandar Puteri, Seremban, and Johor Bahru. I am happy to announce the confirmation of my Final MArch Design Studio project which received a first-class honors with a stable 82%, I would like to thank  Anas M.Hosney Lila, Eduardo Costa and Sigita Žīgure for their guidance over this challenging but equally rewarding academic project.    The project identifies Jakarta's sinking problem and the Indonesian government's plan to relocate the capital to Borneo's forests, an area inhabited by indigenous communities and endangered species. This move is motivated by Jakarta's overcrowding, congestion, and flooding. However, The Jetty offers an alternative solution rooted in the traditions of the Orang Laut, a seafaring indigenous group.    The Jetty is a proposed city-wide solution focusing on Kampung Melayu, a flood-prone district in Jakarta. It involves creating an adaptable urban landscape with stilted pods, bridges, and a monorail, drawing inspiration from traditional architecture and communal living. This design integrates housing with economic opportunities, aiming for a resilient and climate-responsive district.    The project employs computational tools for climatic efficiency and a flexible structural design to minimise environmental impact.
