🚆 First Passenger Service of Mariyung (New Intercity Fleet)! 🚆 With the Mariyung in passenger service, we’re excited to showcase the great industrial design and thinking that has gone into this product. I had the privilege of working closely with HYUNDAI ROTEM, Brandt Clifford and Tim Rugendyke on the interior and exterior design, passenger seats and accessible features of Mariyung. Getting the accessibility aspects right was not just a customer experience priority - it represented a critical opportunity to implement policy and set a new standard for the fleet at design stage. Achieving this required extensive user engagement and iterative design, utilising mock-ups to refine and validate solutions. Making accessible areas inclusive was accomplished through thoughtful integration of features, colour and signage. Designing for a diverse range of users can result in compromise… but not on this train! The overwhelmingly positive feedback strongly supports this. Seeing the hard work of the entire team come to life, and knowing it makes a meaningful difference for those who use it, is incredibly rewarding. At Ferrovia, we have in-depth understanding of DDA and DSAPT legislation and how to design for it – our approach is user-centred and hands-on. This allows us to deliver well considered, accessible solutions that truly improve the travel experience for individuals with disabilities. #Mariyung #IndustrialDesign #Accessibility #InternationalDayofPersonswithDisabilities
