Maryland Emergency Preparedness Network’s Post

We're midway through the week and approaching St Patrick's Day and we wanted to swing by and say how lucky we are to be your Preparedness Partner! 🍀💚 We're here to help you have a happy holiday by not just relying on luck but by being prepared to make St. Patrick's Day as good as gold! 🌈 Check out these safety tips: ✅ 1. If you're planning to consume alcohol, do so responsibly. Have a designated driver or plan alternative transportation. ✅ 2. Stay hydrated throughout the festivities, especially if you consume alcohol. ✅ 3. Be aware of your surroundings, stick to well-lit areas, and avoid isolated areas, especially if you're out late at night. ✅ 4. Dress appropriately for the weather, especially if you spend time outdoors. ✅ 5. Keep emergency contact information handy, including local emergency services and trusted friends or family members. ✅ 6. If hosting a party, have basic first aid supplies and know basic first aid procedures. ✅ 7. If you're attending a public event, familiarize yourself with the venue's emergency exits and procedures. ✅ 8. Stay connected with friends or family members, and have a plan to regroup if you become separated. ✅ 9. Ensure proper food handling practices, such as washing hands before and after handling food, keeping raw meats separate from other foods, and storing perishable foods at the correct temperature. ✅ 10. Practice safe driving habits, including planning your route ahead of time, avoiding distractions, wearing seatbelts, and arranging for alternative transportation if consuming alcohol. Most of all have FUN! 😊💚
