Me to myself during: 🎒 School: "One day, I'll bring my imagination to life through design." 🎓 College: "My creativity will inspire and engage audiences." 💼 Internships: "I'm honing my skills to turn visions into reality." 💻 Freelancing: "It's time to showcase my unique design style to the world." 🎨 Final Year: "This is my moment to leave a mark in the design industry." It took 17 years of dedication to reach: 🖌️ Countless designs created and refined. 📁 Numerous projects completed for satisfied clients. 📚 Valuable lessons learned from every challenge. 🏆 Creative milestones celebrated with each success. But it was 17 years in the making. Everything started with a passion for design. Each step was a chapter in my story, filled with hard work, creativity, and growth. Now, as I look forward to my future in the design industry, I carry with me the lessons and experiences that shaped my path. My number one lesson? Never lose sight of your vision. 🌟 #GraduationProject #NIFT #Internship #3DModelling #3DAnimation #GraphicDesigner #Advertisement #MotionGraphicArtist #DesignJourney #CreativeProcess #VisualDesign #ArtAndDesign #DesignInspiration #DigitalArt #DesignLife #FreelanceDesigner #DesignCommunity #DesignGoals #CareerInDesign #DesignThinking

🚀3 years, 4 internships, 1 job, and 30+ clients: My graduation journey from lockdown to launching a creative empire🎓 Ever wondered what happens when passion meets #perseverance? Here’s my story.⬇️ 🔹In 2020, while the world stood still, my journey took flight. Fresh out of 12th boards and in the midst of a lockdown, I decided to turn my downtime into a launching pad. I enrolled in a diploma course in Graphic Designing from Arena Animation, and at the same time, began my B.M.S at KC College 🔹Fast forward to 2021: I completed my diploma and stepped into the professional world on March 7th with my #firstinternship at Sports Finesse as a Graphic Designer and Social Media Manager. This wasn't just an internship; it was the beginning of transforming my theoretical knowledge into practical, real-world skills. 🔹The thrill of the industry hooked me, and I moved on to my next adventure at Study Cloud. With every project and every deadline, I grew more confident and skilled. By 2022, I was not just an intern anymore; I was juggling freelancing and a job simultaneously, taking on my own clients and crafting my unique path. 🎓 April 2023 was a milestone—I graduated from K.C College with a degree in hand and three years of professional experience already behind me. Today, I continue to hustle, turning my creative visions into reality and building my brand, The Design Haus #KeyTakeaways: 👉 Start Now, Not Later: Every moment is an opportunity. Seize it. 👉 Embrace Setbacks: They’re not the end, but a stepping stone to your next breakthrough. 👉 Let Passion Drive You: When you love what you do, challenges turn into adventures. From lockdown dreams to building my empire, this journey taught me that with hustle and perseverance, the sky’s the limit.🌈 #MyJourney #GraphicDesign #SocialMediaManagement #Freelancing #PassionAndPerseverance #BuildingMyEmpire #TheDesignHaus

My 50 cents for a someone looking for a career in the visual communication and design space at a top studio. Don't reach out for internships until you know the basics. Your chances of getting into a top studio are very lean. Let's say you know the basics, do 2-3 awesome passion projects. Go beyond just the branding and identity (maybe some basic UI for the website). Make a 10 page deck, not 50. Make sure the 10 pages are the best ones you have designed in your life. This is your learning curve too. Don't export it until you are happy and feel proud about yourself. Compare your work with the ones uploaded in the agencies portfolio and your gut feeling will give you the answer on if you should apply to that agency or not. Your skill and hard work is going to define your career like any other quantum of life. #careerindesign

Insights from last week’s (Monday, September 30th) Speaker Series with Bex Creatives: Q: What are you currently working on? A: Right now, I’m focused on photographic work, including concept creation and managing contracts. The skills I’ve learned from the program, like organization and time management, are now essential in my business. Q: What internships have you taken? A: I took a web design internship because that's the direction I wanted to pursue. It was a freelance position for an organization in Oakville, where I worked one day a week for 7 hours. The internship helped me manage my time better, stay organized, and use the connections I made with professors. Q: When applying for internships, do you recommend a website or printed portfolio? A: I recommend a PDF portfolio. Include 5-6 pieces but no more than 5 pieces in each category. Make sure to show the step-by-step process, including sketches, wireframes, user testing, and research. Q: What are some portfolio tips you shared? A: -Include 5-6 pieces, no more than 5 per section. -Show step-by-step processes with sketches, wireframes, and user testing. -If it’s a physical portfolio, keep it small and cohesive. -Don’t overload with too much content—it can water down your message. -Focus on projects that represent your branding; if a project doesn’t align, scrap it. -Personal projects stand out more and help make a lasting impression. -Start building your portfolio early—it’s constantly evolving as you grow. Q: When did you land your internship? A: I landed my internship later, closer to the end of October. If you’re waiting to apply, don’t delay—just do it. Start emailing small businesses and get your name out there. Q: How important is your resume for an internship? A: Your resume is very important because it highlights skills that might not be in your portfolio, like volunteer work or unpaid gigs. These skills can show you have valuable experiences outside of graphic design. Q: What if you’re considering changing streams? A: Whether or not you change streams depends on your goals. Having knowledge and skills in multiple areas can be useful and fun. It allows for more versatility in your career. #mohawkcreativeindustries #connectthedots

Your Design Sucks! During my internship, a colleague gave me feedback on my design work. Back then, I was just starting out and felt proud of my designs, so I was upset by his comments. But now, looking back, I recognize the mistakes I made as a beginner: - Using too many fonts - Keeping the text too big or too small - Improper text alignment - Not leaving enough space in the design It's true that we all learn from our mistakes. Slowly with experience, I was able to identify and rectify these mistakes. In fact, I completed my 6-month internship in just 3 months by learning and improving along the way. Making mistakes is part of the learning process. Next time someone says it to you, remember it’s for your own good. What mistakes did you make when you were just starting out? #graphicdesigner #mistakes

Let’s Talk About Unpaid Internships in Graphic Design As a graphic designer, you may find unpaid internship opportunities, especially when you're just starting. While gaining experience is important, it's also crucial to understand your worth. Here are a few things to consider before saying "yes" to unpaid work: 1️⃣ Value Your Skills: Your time and effort are valuable even if you're a beginner. Design work requires creativity, time, and expertise—skills that deserve compensation. 2️⃣ Experience Doesn’t Always Equal Payment: While unpaid internships may promise "experience for exposure," it's important to ask yourself if you're getting the growth you need for your career. 3️⃣ Alternatives to Unpaid Work: If you're looking to build your portfolio, try creating personal projects, collaborating with peers, or working with non-profits that align with your values. This way, you can still gain experience without compromising your worth. 4️⃣ Know When to Walk Away: If an internship isn’t offering meaningful learning experiences or networking opportunities, it may not be worth your time. Remember, your creativity is valuable. Don’t be afraid to stand up for yourself and seek opportunities that respect your skills! --------------------------------------------------------- Want to start your Graphic Designer career but don't know where to start?
