Recognized annually on November 19th, Women’s Entrepreneurship Day serves to acknowledge the significant contributions of women in the business world. In honour of the day, we are proud to feature some of the many successful business owners and alumni of the Mohawk Graphic Design program, including Rebecca Lee: I’m Rebecca, the photographer and designer behind Bex Creatives. Since graduating from Mohawk College’s Graphic Design program, I’ve been building my business to combine my love for photography, design, and storytelling. Whether I’m capturing the fast-paced action of sports or creating timeless portraits for families and couples, my goal is to preserve meaningful memories that people can cherish forever. With a background in Media Communications from Humber College and Graphic Design from Mohawk, I bring a unique perspective to my work, blending technical skill with creativity. Bex Creatives is my way of sharing these passions with others, offering vibrant and heartfelt photography and design services to celebrate life’s special moments. My advice to anyone starting their entrepreneurial journey is simple: never give up and keep pushing forward. Success doesn’t happen overnight; building a thriving business takes time, effort, and persistence. Growth comes from hard work, determination, and the resilience to keep going, even when challenges arise. Recently, Mohawk College senior Graphic Design students attended the Adobe Creative Retreat and gave us the lowdown from the event! Over the course of two days in Toronto, students attended panels on: Agency Industry, Tips and Tricks for Landing your Dream Job, LinkedIn, and Freelancing. They explored with Adobe Express and Adobe Firefly, and students met with industry professionals to receive one-on-one portfolio and career advice. Each attendee also got a chance to get a professional headshot and to participate in social networking events, where students and professionals could meet, mingle, and chat with one another. We’re so proud of our recent graduates and wish them the best in their future Graphic Design careers! 🎉

Yesterday I graduated with honours from Mohawk College Graphic Design. The last 3 years have been incredible, and I'm sad they're over but so excited for what's ahead. I couldn't have made it through this without my amazing friends and classmates, but most importantly, the amazing professors who helped me grow. I would love to thank some of my amazing professors: Mitch Thompson, Dan MacQueen, Mykul Abdallah, Kristen Hickey, Angela Simon, Marin Hudson, RGD, Steve Postma, Greg Davis, Wes Beckett and Michael Carson, who, over the past 3 years, have taught me so much about graphic design. They pushed me to do better and guided me when I needed it most. Without all of them I would not be the designer I am today and I'm so grateful for everything they've taught me. This program and everyone in it have made it feel like one big family, and I'm so excited to see what we all accomplish, but I know that Mohawk College has prepared us for what's to come, and I can't wait.
