There are many things I've learned running my own business for the past 1.5 years... And I could list them all out here. But the biggest lessons I've learned are around sales. Even after being in pure sales roles for 3 years, I didn't get it. What was my biggest mistake? What was I missing? - I was selling because I wanted the sale - Of course, running my own business, I want the sale too. Especially since it's the only way I bring in revenue. But I was too focused on me. I wasn't helping people get clarity on their situation. I wasn't educating them while we were speaking. I was offering recommendations without learning what they thought would be valuable and helpful. I still have a ton to learn in sales, but I do know this: People want to be sold to.
