Running Barcelona: A Urban Runner's Haven In Barcelona, running isn't just a sport; it's a way of life. Despite the challenges of urban landscapes, the city's vibrant running community thrives. Iconic races like the Cursa de El Corte Inglés and the Barcelona Marathon unite thousands of runners from diverse backgrounds each year. While gender diversity in running is on the rise, challenges like air pollution persist. Coastal routes offer respite, but advocacy for cleaner air remains crucial. Amidst the city's hustle, tranquil trails like Parc de Collserola provide runners with a natural escape. Despite the solitary nature of many runs, a sense of camaraderie permeates Barcelona's streets. While formal running groups may be sparse, the spirit of resilience binds the community together. In Barcelona, the roads are always open, inviting urban adventurers to embrace the freedom of the run. #barcelona #runnning #bcnmetropolitan https://lnkd.in/ebtuyVJw

My first #MobilityLive conference in Melbourne today! There was plenty happening in the #activetravel presentations to hold my attention, here are a few of my highlights: 🚲 Naomi Langdon from Vic Govt for introducing me to the term 'optimising' road space not 'reallocating' space, as well as the ambition to build cycling networks with less stress 🚵♂️ Alton Twine from Bicycle Qld for some excellent practical examples of improving local links on cycling networks in suburban areas that improve overall liveability (and the inspiring story of the beer taps spotted on the bike path in Copenhagen)! 💳 Gillian Gillett from California's DOT on the importance of thinking about public transport provision through the lens of product thinking and 'customer success' - how not to make public transport 'suck'. Also how some centralised support on procurement can be really helpful for local authorities especially since tech is such a fast moving space. 🚲 Alexa Delbosc from Monash Uni for sharing interesting research that showed video counts under-estimate food delivery riders as they are often on the footpaths, and also that they now make up the majority of riders on the network. 💍 Graham Currie FTSE from Monash Uni on lessons for Australia on mass transport planning - and no it is not going to be possible for everyone to get a taxi to the Olympics games venues! Some great active transport things in the exhibitor area too - shout out to Brainwave Bikes NG Mobility Graham McCabe and Krystyna and Stephen from Buy Safe

Elevate Your Corporate Events with Inclusive E-Bike Adventures The early COVID-19 pandemic sparked a remarkable surge in cycling, particularly in off-road cycling and e-bikes. While the overall cycling boom has tapered off, e-bikes continue to thrive, offering a unique opportunity for corporate events. Why E-Bike Events for Corporate Experiences? When it comes to managing transportation for a sporting event so ch as the Olympic Games, there are a few key considerations: 1. Venue location: Start by considering the location of the sporting event venue. Is it easily accessible by public transportation or is it in a more remote area? This will help determine the transportation options available to attendees. 2. Public transportation: Look into existing public transportation options that can accommodate the expected number of attendees. Encourage attendees to utilize public transportation to minimize traffic and parking issues. Consider partnering with local transportation authorities to provide special event services or shuttle buses to and from the venue. 3. Parking and traffic management: If public transportation options are limited, ensure there is ample parking available at the venue. Consider coordinating with nearby parking facilities or implementing a parking reservation system to prevent overcrowding. To manage traffic flow, provide clear signage and instructions to direct attendees to available parking areas and designated drop-off zones. 4. Alternative transportation: Promote alternative transportation options such as biking, walking, or ridesharing. Provide secure bike parking areas and encourage attendees to carpool or use rideshare services to reduce the number of individual vehicles on the road. 5. Communication and information: Ensure attendees have access to clear and up-to-date information regarding transportation options, parking, and any road or traffic advisories. Use various communication channels such as websites, social media, and event apps to keep attendees informed. 6. Accessibility: Consider the needs of attendees with disabilities and provide accessible transportation options, such as accessible parking spaces, ramps, and drop-off areas. Ensure the venue itself is equipped with appropriate facilities for accessibility. 7. Emergency preparedness: Develop contingency plans for any transportation-related emergencies or unforeseen events, such as extreme weather conditions or sudden changes in public transportation availability. Work closely with local authorities and emergency services to ensure a comprehensive emergency response plan is in place. Remember, effective transportation management for a sporting event requires careful planning, coordination with local authorities, and clear communication to provide a smooth and enjoyable experience for attendees. https://lnkd.in/e-k8GxuP

Mountain biking is one of my favorite outdoor activities. This is an excellent article on the overall benefits to the business environment. "Mountain biking in Utah is more than a mere networking tool; it’s a metaphor for the professional journey. The challenges on the trails mirror the unpredictability of business, demanding the same balance, focus and adaptability. Killing it on the mountain or at the office requires teamwork, grit, resilience and the shared thrill of achievement. These aren’t abstract concepts in Utah’s business landscape—they’re part of the daily ride."
