Fun facts about the Tour de France 😀 This year, the Olympics have stolen the spotlight from France’s main summer sports event – the Tour de France. Watching the race has been a childhood dream of mine. In reality, it turned out to be a long wait for just a few seconds of watching a group of cyclists fly by at the speed of a sports car! 🚴♀️🚴🚴♂️ But hey, I did pick up a few fun facts along the way: - Pedaling the full 3,500 km (roughly the distance from London to Cairo) produces enough sweat to flush a toilet 39 times – gross, but true! 😆 - The typical Tour de France rider torches nearly 124,000(!) calories throughout the race’s three weeks. 😲 - There’s an unspoken “pauses pipi” rule where racers agree not to exploit bathroom breaks as opportunities to gain an advantage. 😎 On a more serious note, the energy these incredible athletes share is palpable and contagious. ⚡️ I just wanted to hop on my bike and keep going. Pure inspiration!
