Let me tell you the story of a wealth management firm that grew from $0 to $200M+ in a few short years. Only by using online marketing. Ron Bullis started Lifeworks Advisors in 2017 to provide a better wealth management experience for his clients. But it wasn’t until he and his partner Kurt Van Dyken joined a presentation about building sales funnels on Facebook, that he realized that online marketing was the way to go. So they started putting ads on Facebook. After a few trial and error rounds, they found a winning ad that brought them more business than they could handle. The key to their success was building an online sales funnel that attracted their target audience and gave them something valuable for free. Now, before you go on and randomly create ads on Facebook, here are a few things that likely led to their success: ✅ They provided value in their ad ✅ They sent the ad traffic to a webinar or a short video-series ✅ Their website is light in text and explains benefits in simple terms Note what they didn’t do (or at least only in the beginning 😉): ❌ Talk about why they are great and different in their ads ❌ Immediately send people to book an appointment ❌ Have huge blocks of text and jargon on their website If you want to build your financial services business online, this is the approach to take. If I had to start my business again from scratch, this is what I would do… One of the biggest things my clients ask me is: “𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘐 𝘧𝘰𝘤𝘶𝘴 𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵, 𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵, 𝘧𝘪𝘹𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘥𝘐𝘯 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘧𝘪𝘭𝘦, 𝘰𝘳 𝘶𝘱𝘥𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘮𝘺 𝘸𝘦𝘣𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘦?” The answer is, it really depends. There are so many ways to approach a marketing strategy that’ll generate a steady stream of new leads into your business and there’s no cookie-cutter formula. Having said that, if I were starting over again, I would focus more on the foundational elements of my marketing first. Here’s why: 1️⃣ The foundations of any marketing strategy are all the intangible elements we usually gloss over. Instead, jumping too quickly to setting up social accounts, websites, and posting content. But without a strong foundation, even the most well-meaning content strategy will soon crumble, leaving you with very little to fall back on. 2️⃣ It means I’d get to know my ideal clients like the back of my hand so I could create a high-value offer that solves their biggest challenges and also know the exact messaging they’ll resonate with and need to hear from me. 3️⃣ And I’d have full clarity around the connected marketing pathway that will help ideal prospects move from not knowing who the hell I am to signing on as my new dream clients. Early on, I spent way too much time focusing on my website and spreading myself across multiple social platforms. And while I’m glad I did, it did wind up holding me back a bit. In hindsight, finding a balance between establishing strong foundations in your business and building online visibility will get you results much faster. When you approach your goals from both angles, you’ll end up with a strategy that will grow with your business. Simple, effective, and achievable. Here's How You Detach Your Time From Money In 2024 First things first. STOP selling your time. START selling your knowledge. How do we do this, you might ask? The answer is simple... Digital Products. Here is my 4-step strategy to create a successful info product business. 1 - Pick Your Topic Your topic is the cornerstone of your info product business, so it's important you get it right. Start by asking yourself these 4 questions: • What could you deliver a TED talk on right now, with no preparation? • What do people most often ask for your help/advice with? • Are there mistakes or frustrations people go through that you feel you could fix? • What is a skill that you have mastered? The most important factor is choosing a topic aligned with a strong desire of your audience. 2 - Build Your Brand Choose your platform or platforms, and start providing value through social media content. I'd recommend using either: •LinkedIn •Instagram •Youtube Your goal here is to build an audience of people interested in your topic. Create content around your personal experience, stories, insights, and education on your topic. The key is to provide value, value, and more value. 3 Create Your Digital Product Now it's time to package your knowledge into a digital product. A few of my favourite options are: •Online courses •Paid communities •Software •Templates •Digital Tools Choose the format that would provide the most benefit to your audience. This is best done through some form of lead magnet, into a call funnel. Don't just flood your social media with ads and promotions for your products. The best framework is, give, give, give, give... give again, then ask. Remember, the key is to provide continuous value, so that people want to buy your paid products.
