🌍 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in Clinical Trials is essential for ensuring that medical research benefits all populations. Our latest blog (Immaculate Nevis MD, MSc,PhD, MBA) explores how systematic literature reviews (SLRs) play a critical role in supporting the FDA’s DEI initiatives. In this post, I discuss why diversity in clinical trials is crucial for better health outcomes. As we continue to push for more diverse and representative clinical trials, it's vital to use all tools at our disposal to improve outcomes for everyone. Read more about the role of SLRs in shaping a more equitable future for clinical research. 👉 https://lnkd.in/e5S9XM9J #DEI #ClinicalTrials #DiversityInResearch #FDA #SystematicReviews #HealthEquity

Happy International Clinical Trials Day! Today, we celebrate the remarkable contributions of clinical trials to the advancement of medical science. Clinical trials are the backbone of medical research, helping to develop new treatments, improve existing therapies, and enhance our understanding of various health conditions. On this day, we honor the dedication of all the professionals involved in clinical trials - researchers, healthcare providers, and especially the participants who volunteer for these studies. Their commitment is instrumental in driving medical progress and ensuring that new treatments are safe and effective. Clinical Trials Day also reminds us of the importance of ethical standards and rigorous scientific methodologies. It's a day to reflect on the strides we've made in patient safety, data integrity, and the overall quality of clinical research. Let's continue to support and advocate for clinical trials, recognizing their vital role in improving global health outcomes. Together, we can advance science and bring hope to patients around the world. Building trust in communities that have been historically underrepresented in clinical studies is an important step to expanding diversity in clinical trials. Andrew Trister, MD PhD, our Chief Medical and Science Officer discussed strategies to make progress while at the recent Milken Institute Global Conference: “Clinical trials are more successful when participants feel like they’re centered in the process. One way to reflect this is in the language associated with clinical trial participation.” “Even the language that we use when we talk about clinical studies represents a change in the hierarchy and shifts how the trust relationship works — a person becomes a subject in a study as opposed to being a patient.” Read more in STAT: https://bit.ly/3ypaLWu #MIGlobal #ClinicalTrials #HealthEquity #PrecisionHealth

In most #clinicaltrials, the cost of research interventions is typically covered by the sponsor or through a grant from a governmental or private organization. When research activities lack this financial support, researchers must consider alternative models. However, there are significant concerns with expecting participants to bear the financial burden of research participation, even when the study closely resembles standard medical care. At WCG, our general position is research participants should not have to pay for their research intervention, including participant’s direct costs in different types of studies, from clinical trials of high-risk FDA-regulated products to unregulated novel concepts. In our latest insight, we dive into several layers of issues to address when discussing studies that require participants to pay to participate. 🩺✨ What is a Screening Visit in Clinical Research? ✨🩺 Ever wondered what happens during the screening visit of a clinical trial? 🤔 Here’s the scoop! The screening visit is a crucial first step for participants, where our team assesses eligibility for the study. This involves a series of health evaluations, discussions about medical history, and important information about the trial itself. A key part of this visit is the consenting process. Participants will receive detailed information about the study, including potential risks, benefits, and their rights. It’s an opportunity to ask questions and ensure everyone feels informed and comfortable before moving forward. Consent is all about transparency and respect for participants’ choices. 💬✨ By participating, individuals contribute to groundbreaking discoveries that can lead to new treatments and therapies. If you’re considering joining a clinical trial, the screening visit is your chance to learn more and see if it’s right for you. Together, we can make a difference! 💙 #ClinicalResearch #ScreeningVisit #InformedConsent #HealthInnovations #BePartOfTheChange
