Today, on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, we celebrate the resilience, strength, and achievements of people living with disabilities worldwide. But we must also recognize that barriers to accessibility and inclusion still exist. As a community, we must continue to work toward creating accessible spaces, opportunities, and systems that empower everyone, regardless of ability. Let’s keep challenging stereotypes and breaking down barriers to create a world of true inclusion. Why Does Community Belonging Matter? For the people we support at Aurora Nexus, community isn’t just a place, it’s a lifeline. It’s the feeling of being valued, the opportunity to build friendships, and the chance to connect with others in meaningful ways. Whether it’s attending a local event, joining a community group, or simply being included in day-to-day activities, these connections empower individuals with learning disabilities and autism to feel seen, heard, and appreciated. Belonging creates confidence and inspires independence. It’s not just about being included, it’s about being celebrated for who you are. Together, we can build communities where everyone has a place and a purpose 🌱 🧡 Help us create these connections by donating via our website and being part of driving a more inclusive, connected future for everyone. #charity #community #london #inclusivecommunities #communitybelonging #learningdisabilities #autismsupport #southlondoncharity #personcentredcare #buildingconnections #inclusionmatters #empoweringindependence #charitywork

We interviewed Russ Gramstad at OneDigital & learned about how his team integrates #philanthropy into their business. As a large company, OneDigital leverages their resources to provide support to various nonprofits. Meanwhile, by partnering with MPP, OneDigital contributes to our "Give-Back" business model; each time an employee books a session with us, some of the proceeds go toward supporting students experiencing homelessness. To learn more about how OneDigital gives back, check out the full interview on our Youtube channel - link in the comments below! 💛 #GivingBack

As a fundraising professional with my own Give to the Max Day Goals it might seem a little odd for me to recommend an additional organization to send your GTMD dollars to, but I believe in the abundance of our community! The truth is, having multiple organizations thriving as they work for the good of our community means that each of us has the capacity to build upon our strengths and leverage our impact! I fundraise for a children's mental health organization, and I know, especially right now while anxiety is high among the LGBTQIA2S+ community, having organizations like Queer Space investing in the lives of youth will go a long, long way to support their mental wellbeing. Community, mentorship, education, and advocacy go a long way in creating psychological safety! So, this Give to the Max Day- of course I want to you to pitch in to help my organization be successful, but I also want you to consider investing in organizations like Queer Space! We need one another. Especially now!
Let's take QUEERSPACE to the max—together, with humility and care. We know this is a tender time for our community. As a nonprofit, we’re obligated to fundraise to keep our programs going, but we also recognize that this ask may feel difficult in the wake of the election. If it feels right, we invite you to make a gift to support our new 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Center for Give to the Max Day. If financial support isn’t possible, we welcome you to share our message, follow along on our journey, and stand with us in whatever way feels right for you. Every contribution—no matter the size or form—is deeply appreciated by all of us at QUEERSPACE. 🌈 Donate at https://lnkd.in/gHBER7Rm. All gifts made through November 21 count toward our $50,000 goal to #CreateTheSpace for Queer youth across Minnesota. #GTMD24

It’s #NativeNonprofitDay! Did you know, Native-led organizations often encounter barriers in accessing funding due to systemic inequalities in philanthropy. Despite making up 2.9% of the U.S. population, only 0.4% of philanthropic dollars explicitly benefit Native Americans. We at the Alliance ask you to take a moment today to support your favorite Native-led organization. Together, let's honor and uplift the vital work of Native nonprofits, preserving culture, advancing rights, and empowering communities. #NativeNonprofitDay #SupportIndigenous #GiveNative

✨ Join Us for Giving Tuesday: Your Support Can Transform Lives ✨ Giving Tuesday is a global movement that encourages generosity and collective action to create positive change in our communities. This year, AIM is proud to take part in this initiative, with the goal of raising $24,000 to continue empowering children and families impacted by autism. Through this campaign, we have the chance to win a $10,000 grant from Western Financial Group, which would make a significant difference in supporting our mission. Here's how you can help: 1️⃣ Visit @westernfinancial on Instagram. 2️⃣ Find their post about the Giving Tuesday campaign. 3️⃣ Nominate @AIM.Charity in the comments, sharing why our work resonates with you. 💡 Example: "I nominate @AIM.Charity for their dedication to helping children with autism and their families thrive through innovative programs that foster development, independence, and community connection." Your participation in Giving Tuesday helps us continue to provide life-changing resources and opportunities to those who need it most. Together, we can make a lasting impact. #GivingTuesday #SupportAIM #AutismSupport #CommunityImpact #Philanthropy #Nonprofits #ChangeMakers #CorporateSocialResponsibility #SocialGood #Fundraising #MakeADifference

It's #Mondata! Over the past five years, data reveals that approximately 60% of donors support just one nonprofit in a given year, with an additional 15% supporting two. 🤔 Between 2020 to 2022, donation behaviour shifted, largely influenced by the pandemic and the heightened focus on social and racial justice following the Black Lives Matter movement. During this time, the average number of causes supported by each donor rose to between 2.5 and 2.7. However, by 2023, this number settled back to an average of 2.2 nonprofits per donor, a level similar to that seen in 2019. There seems to be a strong inclination among donors to be singularly focused when it comes to issues. Is this a good thing, a bad thing or just a thing? When you consider these donors would have had access to millions of nonprofits to choose from, and that we’re living in a world of poly-crises, I can’t help but think that this is a lost opportunity… #ImpactData #CorporateSocialResponsibility #CorporatePhilanthropy #Nonprofit #NGOs #CorporateGiving

Was an honour to be asked to speak at the latest Quartet Community Foundation event. I used the time to talk about the social model of disability. The social model of disability is the understanding that disability is something that is created by society. This is because disabled people face barriers that stop them from taking part in society in the same way as non-disabled people. There are physical barriers that disabled people face. These could include things like: - A sign that someone with a visual impairment can’t read. - An inaccessible building without wheelchair ramps. - A webpage with flashing animations that could trigger a seizure. There are also social barriers or attitudinal barriers, like stereotypical beliefs that non-disabled people have about disabled people. Assuming that a disabled person “can’t do” something creates a barrier for that person. According to the social model of disability, it’s these barriers that make a person disabled. Disability isn’t something that exists inside your body or your mind. It’s something that is created by an inaccessible society. Here at Paul's Place, we work to break down these barriers every day.
"What do disabled people need to thrive?" This was the theme of our latest Behind the Scenes event for fundholders, which took place earlier this month at one of FACE's youth centres in South Gloucestershire. A big thank you to Lynda Williams and Kayley Waller from Paul's Place and Debbie Teml from FACE, who spoke passionately about how they are supporting disabled people in their communities. Access to our regular “Behind the Scenes” events across the South West is one of the many benefits of becoming a Quartet Community Foundation fundholder.
