🚲 Micromobility is changing how we move and protect our environment! 🌍 As communities work to cut emissions, micromobility and microtransit—shared scooters and bikes, as well as ride-sharing vans—are connecting people to public transit, reducing congestion, and preventing pollution. In Lake Tahoe, the League has been driving solutions since 2018, first through bike and scooter sharing, then by piloting the region's first microtransit service. Now, the concepts are taking off. Three microtransit systems now operate in Tahoe—Mountaineer, TART Connect, and Lake Link—with buy-in from local governments, organizations, businesses and the community. Together, the systems have taken tens of thousands of cars off the road. Watch our CEO, Darcie Goodman Collins, discuss the League's work in a Time article: https://lnkd.in/e5YyrwDA #KeepTahoeBlue #Micromobility #Sustainability #ClimateAction

But for people who can’t use scooters and e-bikes because of disability, age, or distance, other shared mobility strategies have also been explored to reduce the use of personal vehicles."

Meet Lime… electric micromobility enabler and the “#SeeingGreen Solutionist of the Day” for November 2. Lime is a leading micromobility company that provides electric scooters, bikes and mopeds to urban areas worldwide. With a mission to build a future where transportation is shared, affordable and carbon-free, Lime operates in more than 200 cities across multiple continents, offering a convenient, affordable, more sustainable alternative to traditional transportation. Lime is working to improve urban mobility, reduce congestion, and give people easy access to shared electric vehicles for short-distance travel. Since Lime’s inception, riders have taken over 600 million total rides while traveling over 740 million miles, preventing more than an estimated 12,000 tons of CO2 emissions and saving more than 1.3M gallons of gas. To expand accessibility of its vehicles toward micromobility for all, Lime recently began piloting two new vehicles in its fleet: LimeGlider and LimeBike. The LimeGlider combines the seated comfort of a bike with the ease of a scooter and is built with footrests instead of pedals, allowing riders to simply get on and go. The LimeBike was designed with several features for a more comfortable experience for a wider range of riders, including women and older riders. To contribute to sustainability, both vehicles were designed to last longer, require fewer repairs, sustain higher usage and be Lime’s most repairable vehicles to date. The new vehicles are aimed at accelerating a shift from car use in cities by appealing to diverse groups, including those with varying abilities, while retaining the fun, convenience and reliability of Lime’s vehicles. Does carsharing really have an impact? 🚘 We get this question quite often: how can we claim to be driven by #sustainability when we promote the use of cars? Well, we're promoting the use of shared cars instead of individual cars. 🤔 Why is that relevant you might ask? Because most of our cities are overcrowded and overburdened by cars, that remain parked 95% of the time. And unused cars take up precious urban space that could be used for pedestrian lanes, parks, or playgrounds. So, what’s the impact of #carsharing then? According to the latest ADEME study: 👉 1 shared car can replace up to 8 cars 👉 1 shared car can free up to 3 parking spots 👉 Carsharing users tend to to rely on more sustainable transportation options: biking (+22%), public transports (18%) & train (+29%) 🌎 For Earth Day, we wanted to imagine how our cities would look like if cars didn’t dominate them. Take a look below! 👀 👇 Ps: thanks Marco Te Brömmelstroet for inspiring us to showcase before/after pictures of what cities could be like with more sustainable #mobility options!

#Transportation electrification efforts have largely focused on replacing gas-powered cars with electric vehicles, which makes sense given US’ car-centric culture. Less attention has been paid to e-bikes, a much more affordable and accessible alternative. But that’s changing. Programs such as Denver’s wildly popular e-bike incentive program are showing that policy can be a powerful lever to accelerate e-bike adoption, for instance. To help policymakers, city planners, and others understand the financial, social, environmental, and health benefits of e-bike adoption, RMI created its E-Bike Environment and Economics Impact Assessment Calculator for Cities. #ebikes #electricvehicles #EVs #cityplanning #climate

VNC LP#526 Impacts of Micromobility Micromobility is having a big impact on cities. In Sweden, it took e-scooter companies only 31 weeks to get 31 million users, which is 10% of total road traffic. Micromobility can reduce traffic congestion and pollution: e-scooter rides are already replacing car usage, and one ride can mitigate CO2 emissions 5-10 times more than a car trip. Micromobility complements public transportation: 27% of e-scooter rides are used to get to or from public transportation stations. Micromobility is convenient for short trips: 58.5% of car trips are less than 8 kilometres, which is a perfect distance for e-scooters. Micromobility is space-efficient: one converted car parking space can fit up to 10 bikes. Micromobility is safe and orderly: 98% of e-scooters in Germany are parked correctly. EIT Urban Mobility

1.8 Million Daily trips, 270,000 tons of CO2 saved—Micro-Mobility is just getting started in Europe! The latest numbers from CIE's bike-sharing study are in, and they’re impressive. But the potential is even bigger. Across 148 cities, micro-mobility is quietly revolutionizing urban life. From bikes to e-scooters, the impact on CO2 emissions is already massive—and it’s only going to grow. Here’s what you need to know: 1.8 million daily trips: Imagine if underperforming cities stepped up—we could add 650 million more trips per year, saving 270,000 tons of CO2 annually. Fleet size matters: Cities with 50+ bikes per 10,000 people see significantly higher daily trips. The math is simple: scale your fleet, scale your impact. Scaling is affordable: Adding 280,000 micro-mobility vehicles across Europe would cost around €325 million. That’s a big number, but the long-term returns in cleaner air and improved mobility are even bigger. E-bikes and e-scooters are the future: Electrically-assisted bikes and scooters are booming, but they come with their own challenges battery risks, theft, and higher maintenance costs. Specialized support is key to managing these risks. Closing the first and last-mile gap: Micro-mobility is helping cities reduce car dependency by connecting people to public transport. It’s not just about getting from A to B it’s transforming how cities move. What’s in it for operators? The opportunity to scale your micro-mobility fleet is huge but so are the challenges. Without optimised insurance, hidden costs can sink your growth. That’s why market leaders team up with Cachet our technology enables adaptive coverage plans tailored to the platform lifestyle. Managing risk and controlling expenses are key to scaling up and meeting the demand for micro-mobility. Let’s chat about how Cachet can help you grow with confidence and stay on top of your fleet’s needs. #MicroMobility #UrbanMobility #EBikes #EScooters #SustainableCities #FleetManagement #GreenTransport #InsuranceForMobility #EuropeanMobilityWeek

~ Have you Wonder: What is a Park-and-Ride (P+R) system? 😎 ~ A park-and-ride system refer to large car parks mostly situated in the vicinity of access roads to cities linked to large capacity means of public transport such as buses, trains, or trams. The main purpose of introducing such car parks is the effort to push (or at least reduce) individual car traffic from the centres of large cities. These car parks attract drivers due to low parking rate (as opposed to city centre parking rate), large capacity and good connection to fast public transport. This well-designed transport strategy provides a convenient and lucrative alternative to driving directly into crowded urban areas, which helps in minimising the number of vehicles on roads, managing traffic flow, and also contributes to reducing pollution levels. Park-and-ride systems are well-integrated with other public transport networks that help enhance the travel experience for commuters. #ParkAndRide #CommuteSmart #ParkAndGo #TransitSolutions #ParkSmart #Carpooling #PublicTransit #EcoFriendlyCommute #ParkAndTravel #ConvenientCommute #ParkingManagement #SmartParking #ParkingSolutions #ParkingSystem #EfficientParking #ParkingTechnology #UrbanMobility #ParkingInnovation #ManageYourParking
