🚨 We're Taking Legal Action to Protect Lake Tahoe 🚨 On December 4, we filed a lawsuit challenging the Village at Palisades Tahoe Specific Plan backed by the Alterra Mountain Company. The League’s concerns are with the project’s unacknowledged and unmitigated air and water pollution impacts to Tahoe. We joined Sierra Watch in taking this legal action. This decision does not come lightly. For more than a decade, we have worked to find a collaborative solution with Alterra and Placer County. The alternatives and compromises we proposed were dismissed. With all our other options now exhausted, we're left with no choice but this one to #KeepTahoeBlue. We are not opposed to the modernization and expansion of Palisades Tahoe in Olympic Valley. Yet development - including crucial affordable housing - cannot come at the expense of Lake Tahoe. We are still committed to collaborating to find a project that will uplift the Tahoe community without jeopardizing this place we all love. 💙 Standing with our CEO to Protect Lake Tahoe! 🌲 Our CEO, Darcie Goodman Collins, PhD, is leading the charge in advocating for a YES vote on California's Proposition 4. Prop 4 will protect Lake Tahoe’s natural resources by funding essential wildfire prevention and water quality projects. It’s not just about the Basin – it’s about ensuring a safe, sustainable future for all of California. Read her compelling op-ed and see why the League supports this initiative! 💪 https://lnkd.in/g6nD9gRv #VoteYesOn4 #ProtectLakeTahoe #KeepTahoeBlue #WildfireResilience
A YES vote on Prop 4 just makes sense. As someone born and raised in Tahoe, I’ve seen firsthand the increasing threat of wildfires and their effects on our beautiful Lake. Prop 4 invests in forest health and water protection projects that help prevent future disasters due to wildfire, not just here in Tahoe but across the state. As CEO of the League to Save Lake Tahoe, I’m calling on Californians to vote YES. Let’s take action now so California and Lake Tahoe are safe for future generations. Read more in my op-ed at SouthTahoeNow https://lnkd.in/gbxeYBfD #VoteYesOn4 #KeepTahoeBlue #WildfirePrevention #ProtectCalifornia
