Is your company’s interface between the day-to-day business (NOW) and non-incremental innovation (NEW) set up for fostering out-of-the-box innovation and new venture building? Without a functional NOW/NEW interface, corporate innovators cannot turn corporate assets and capabilities into a material “unfair advantage.” Statistics show that this is the fate of 29 out of 30 corporate startups. My latest book, “NOW and NEW – How Companies Can Use Their Capabilities For Scaling Innovation and Generating New Growth,” (see link in comments, including the opportunity to download a free chapter) provides a solution to this problem. It is based on the insights of over 100 corporate and academic experts and codifies best practices into an actionable framework. On October 02, 1600-1800 CEST (free event!), I will share the stage of innov8rs Community Club with four of the co-creators: Tania Aydenian, Bob Gravestijn, Claus von Riegen and Hitesh Mittal. We - lead you through the essence of the book, - discuss critical issues in the NOW/NEW interface, and - facilitate a mini-workshop so that you can discuss with your peers. Join us for this free event (link in the comments) and get the inside scoop!

This month, we’re highlighting Social Innovation as we prepare for Startup Weekend Skopje, taking place on the first weekend in November, so here’s another interview in our monthly spotlight series! We talked with Nikola Mihail Angelovski a PR and marketing expert and a key organizer of SWS 2024. Key takeaways: 🔹 Startup Weekend Skopje 2024 focuses on Social Innovation to address community challenges. 🔹 Social innovation means including the community in business models and prioritizing values. 🔹 The startup community should explore less-discussed fields to promote a wider understanding of social innovation. 🔹 Startups can take the lead in social innovation by adding social elements from the beginning, unlike established companies that do so later. 🔹 The service sector can benefit from social innovation, especially with AI and technology, helping businesses connect with their communities. 5 learnings of a tech entrepreneur ↓ From deeploi cofounder Philipp Hoffmann’s article in the StartupValley Magazine last week. 1. Stay curious -The tech world changes rapidly. -It pays to recognize new trends ASAP – and act on them. -Ask questions rather than trying to answer them. Even the “silly” ones. -And no matter how long you’ve been in the game, you can always learn. 2. Be bold -Don’t let the skeptics dissuade you. -Your crazy ideas are often the ones with the biggest wins. -As a leader, it’s your job to encourage your team to take risks. -This is how you foster an atmosphere of innovation and creativity. 3. Always connect -A strong network is worth more than gold. -It pays to stay in contact and chat with them regularly. -They will bring you new ideas, attitudes and opportunities. -And the more diverse they are, the better. Diversity = varied perspectives. 4. Trust your gut -Especially when building your product. -It’s easy to be swayed by various stakeholders. -Then you lose sight of your original idea, your North Star. -Take a moment of introspection to uncover and follow your intuition. 5. Product is # 1 -There's always room to develop and improve. -Even if that means letting go of previous ideas you had. -Pay attention to trends, speak to your customers, work with your team. -This is the only way to stay relevant and make the best possible product. Hungry for more? Find the whole article in the Startup Valley Magazine. https://lnkd.in/edTeH6Fy
