“Thinking of a person as sharp as a razor Yaron comes to mind. I worked with Yaron for a decade in two companies. He can almost intuitively identify the key feature required by the market or the strength of the competitors and how to tackle it. Yaron quickly gains understanding of complex systems and complicated situations and proposes solutions. This rare capability of separating the wheat from the chaff and defining a clear path forward whether in business discussions or in technical design processes makes him a unique leader for any emerging company. We also became good friends. This allowed me to enjoy his sharp critical thinking discussing art, politics and social sciences. Yaron would be a true asset for any organization seeking a leader than delivers, and he earns my highest recommendation.”

Last week Bria was ranked #20 of the most promising startups in Israel, kudos to the team! It is a long journey to build a startup. At 8 years old, I fell in love with mathematics, and at that point, I knew that's what I'd get my PhD in. That passion not only shaped my academic path but also ignited my interest in visual technologies and AI, which led me to pursue a PhD in computer vision. During my studies, I began to realise just how much the future of content would change with AI coming into the mix. Fast-forward to 2020, during COVID and before the Gen AI hype, I combined my understanding of how visuals can be generated with AI and the valuable enterprise experience I gained in my previous role at Trax Retail, to co-establish an AI startup called BRIA. We had one simple goal: To make it easy for any individual and company to generate the exact visuals needed for any use. Our key objective in helping you achieve this is to ensure that we provide you with a transparent, open, and responsible AI platform trained solely on licensed data, no public figures and deep fake, no privacy infringement. And in a world where more than 43% of people don't trust companies to use AI morally, Responsible AI use has never been more important. In building BRIA, we've been able to help businesses all over the world scale their content development process. And what gets me even more excited is that we've been able to partner with different creators to ensure that their creativity is respected, rewarded, and isn't pirated. We trained our own high quality foundation models and built the core tools of Generative AI so everyone can use it. The journey so far has been anything but linear, and I'm eager to continue sharing the innovative features we're developing, discuss the critical importance of Responsible AI, and explore how you can leverage our platform to its fullest potential. Join us as we pave the way for a new era of content creation, where innovation meets integrity.

Over the past decade, I have reviewed over 1,000 cv's in search for the best team members to join our team. I see a lot of people in Israel in need of jobs these days so sharing some tips from my experience as a manager and Organizational Psychologist that I hope can be helpful. If you have any questions or additional insights, please feel free to comment below or pm me. I divided the job-seeking journey into 4 stages: 1. Self-reflection 2. CV building 3. Networking 4. “Dating” your future boss In this post I will cover some pointers for the first 3 stages. Next post will cover pointers for the last stage. *Self-reflection* 1. Self-reflection and understanding what you are good at and what you are passionate about. 2. Who are you - Need to be able to answer this in 2-3 lines at the top of the CV. Are you a manager and looking to be in a leadership role or more of a hands-on executive? Is your focus marketing/sales/coding/project management? Pro tip: Ask your friends to be honest with you and share the value they see you bring. It will crystalize your own view as well. *CV and LinkedIn profile* 1. CV building - how does your future boss know you are great at what you do? What success and impact did you have that you can articulate with numbers? 2. The design is great. But the most important is the content. Make sure clear description in the header what you do and keep it short, with bullet points and a 1-pager. Make sure no mistakes. If there is even 1 typo, it is a no-go. 3. Passion talks. Years ago I hired a young man with very little experience because he came with great passion and told me how he taught himself code at age 11. See how you can find that story that highlights your greatness. *Networking* 1. Networking and asking friends for an intro or to put in a good word. Identify 10 people you will have coffee with to brainstorm your career. Some will give you great advice. Others will give you a good lead. 2. Don't only think about networking with those who can give you the job today but rather with those who know people that can help you. 3. The best way to build trust is to show your work in action. I once hired someone because he reached out and explained to me in a loom video why one of my client websites stinked and how that can be fixed. He didn't tell me what he does but showed me. What tips have you found as a manager that you would give future employees?

Israeli tech is at a crossroads On the one hand, we see a surge in tech, particularly with AI. On the other hand, we're dealing with a decrease in economic activity and a potential shift in the job market While it's true that the current situation in the country has led to a decrease in economic activity, we must also consider the impact of AI on the job market. Companies may be using the current economic climate as a cover to transition to AI-driven operations, a move that isn't typically popular… The rapid development of AI, such as OpenAI's GPT-3, suggests that we may see a big shift in the job market sooner than anticipated. While this is great for efficiency, it also raises concerns about job security, and the future of jobs Furthermore, the job market, especially in the tech sector, is becoming increasingly competitive There are fewer jobs than there are people looking for work. This issue is particularly pronounced in the Haredi community, where job opportunities are even scarcer. The community faces additional challenges, including bias and a lack of experience. Most training programs today don't offer job experience or placement, leaving individuals to navigate the job market on their own Given these circumstances, #entrepreneurship emerges as a viable path… knowing how to run a business and possessing skills that can't be easily replicated by AI can be a real advantage Along with those challenges, another major question is… is Israel a conducive environment for setting up a business? The Israeli government's stance towards businesses, particularly #startups, plays a big role in shaping the country's economic landscape. High taxes and stringent regulations can deter entrepreneurs, pushing them to relocate their businesses to countries like the US This trend is worrying… as startups and new businesses are the key drivers of economic growth. A decrease in the number of companies not only reduces job opportunities but also hampers growth The government's role in fostering a supportive environment for businesses cannot be overstated Initiatives to ease regulations, provide tax cuts, and offer support can significantly enhance the business landscape, encouraging entrepreneurs to establish and grow their businesses in Israel While it's true that thriving businesses may not always equate to more jobs, particularly because of #AI, they do contribute to economic growth. The profits generated by these businesses can be reinvested into the economy, catalyzing further growth The next few years in this country are about striking a balance between embracing tech, entrepreneurship, and ensuring job security, as well as creating an environment conducive for building businesses What are your thoughts on this? Founders of US-based VC-backed companies who graduated from the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology are 21 times more likely than average to achieve unicorn status in the US. Odds ratios for other universities in Israel: Reichman University: 10.5 more likely The Hebrew University of Jerusalem: 5.9 Tel Aviv University: 5.6 Ben-Gurion University of the Negev: 5.2 In three cases – Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and Savitribai Phule Pune University – we could not determine a ratio because EVERY founder graduating from these universities ended up with a unicorn (at least, in our sample)! These are all astonishing odds. The following schools with at least 10 founders among their undergraduate students also had good odds of producing unicorn founders: Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (3.0 times more likely than average) Bar-Ilan University (2.2) Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (2.0) University of Waterloo (1.6) Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (1.6) Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (1.4) Queen's University (1.4) Any other universities you expected to see in this post? Thank you to the Stanford University Graduate School of Business Venture Capital Initiative team for spearheading this research. Note: In our sample of 2,897 founders of 1,110 US-based VC-backed unicorns, 607 founders earned a bachelor’s degree outside the US. Among the 2,337 founders from the random sample of 1,027 US-based VC-backed companies, 345 did so. Undergraduates from the Israel Institute of Technology include 26 unicorn founders and 1 random sample founder. Dividing one on the other, and correcting for the different number of unicorn founders and random sample founders, the odds ratio is 21. #stanford #stanfordgsb #venturecapital #startups #innovation #technology

As a result of the war, the Israeli defense industry and defense-tech companies have been at the forefront. A recent article I wrote for Calcalist כלכליסט explains how we can leverage the significant investments made in defense industries and their outstanding achievements for environmental sustainability and overcoming climate change. Dual-use technology refers to technologies that can be used for both military and civilian purposes, thereby maximizing the advantages of advanced technologies. A drone is a great example of dual-use technology – on one hand, it can be used for military surveillance, and on the other hand, it can also be used to monitor climate-related changes such as methane and other GHG emissions monitoring, weather patterns, etc. In the article, I provided more examples of dual-use technologies, including satellite technologies and green transportation. Defense industries and Israeli defense-tech companies can play a central role in dual-use technology. Investing in dedicated bodies like Capital Nature can provide the necessary network and market access for these technologies. This can revolutionize both sectors and drive progress towards a safer and more sustainable future. #DualUseTechnology #Defensetech #ClimateCrisis

40,000. Let that sink in. Time is the enemy of everything, if you can weather the storm, time, you will find yourself and your company achieving awesome things. We are surviving, and I am excited now that the platform is built to bring in additional members to clean up the css to get it out to the public. I recommend honestly the bootstrap approach until things stabilize or serious funding or revenue are coming in. hire the talent you need to address the problem. half of companies kill themselves out of ego in hiring those who contribute to long term solutions that may exacerbate the short term. food for thought. it's only on supporting each other, rowing together, we weather the storm. #israel #israeliinnovation

10 Mistakes to avoid in Global Hiring: We recently acquired updated stats of Israeli startups (we won’t mention the companies here) that hired and fired CRO’s, VP Sales and Enterprise Account Exec’s in the U.S. after only 6-12 months on the job! The damage to these companies in revenue, customer satisfaction/retention, overall image (from both customers and potential hires) is dramatic, has a price tag, and in most cases could have been avoided. If you’re an Israeli startup company hiring in the U.S., these are a few dynamics you should take into consideration and a list of mistakes you can avoid. Feel free to add your mistake to avoid or comment. "AR computing!" Say goodbye to traditional laptops. An Israeli entrepreneur has innovated a technology that bids farewell to our traditional laptops. Tamir Berliner- founder of Sightful and the innovator behind the Spacetop G1! What is the Spacetop G1? Spatial computer that seamlessly integrates the functionality of a laptop with the capabilities Of Augmented Reality (AR). A 100-inch virtual workspace replaces the need for a physical screen. Spacetop G1 adapts to various environments, whether at home, in the office, or on the go. This represents a step forward in integrating AR technologies with daily tasks. Spatial with AR transforms how we interact with digital content, personally and professionally. The real test will be in its execution. The usability of the AR interface, the battery life, the comfort of AR glasses, etc., are crucial. I believe Sightful has managed to address these practical concerns effectively. And I am awaiting the official release in india. Congrats to Tamir Berliner and the team for their bold move and fantastic innovation. The Spacetop G1 is an evolution in how we think about personal computing. Israel is a giant playground if you can perceive it as such. One of my adventures in the corridors of Israeli academia (it’s a comedy. They all are) involved an esoteric investigation into a new class of numbers. There was a notion that there is a negative zero and a positive zero, and that it is somehow useful. I came in to the lab, understood what is required, and wrote the code that produces negative and positive zeros, and queries that perform statistical analysis on the outputs, etc, etc, etc. Negative zeros, positive zeros, perhaps useless in any case aside from slippage calculation in zero-ish trade thresholds. In any case, it’s unfeasible, due to Binance fees. https://lnkd.in/dfjKhTND
