"Sharing a personal lesson I learned recently as a recruiter... I made a mistake that probably cost us a client. I didn't vet a candidate thoroughly enough, and it led to a mismatch. The business owner was understandably upset, and we have to regain their trust. But instead of getting discouraged, I chose to learn from my mistake. I realized that I need to be even more diligent in my candidate vetting process, asking tougher questions, and really understanding their qualifications and fit. I'm sharing this because I want to emphasize that mistakes are opportunities for growth. I could have beaten myself up over it, but instead, I'm using it as a chance to improve my skills and processes. Let's embrace our mistakes and use them as learning experiences. Something I’ve learned through my most recent rounds of interviewing: Never underestimate your worth. It's important to remember that you're compensated for the value you deliver. Misallocation of resources—whether in unnecessary infrastructure or redundant equipment—while neglecting fair compensation for your top talent is unacceptable. If a company cannot afford you, that isn’t a problem for you to solve for them by making yourself smaller. There will always be another company that manages their money properly and will pay you what you’re worth. Remember, you bring unique skills and experience to the table that deserve to be compensated fairly. Don't settle for less than you deserve. #careeradvice #jobsearch #knowyourworth
