With statistics showing that nearly 50% of girls think speaking their mind will make them unlikable and only 1 in 5 girls ages 8-17 think they have the qualities to be a good leader, it’s no wonder that there is a glaring inequity of women in leadership positions across all levels and industries today, these perceived limitations so often begin in girlhood, as girls internalize the cultural biases, discouraging messages, and constrictive stereotypes that come at them from various aspects of the media and all corners of society. Join as we teach our youth the importance of leadership! #GirlsEmpowermentLeadership #WeWalkInElegance🌻

This is so true! From an early age, many of us are taught different expectations based on gender—boys are encouraged to be bold, while girls are told to stay reserved. This conditioning contributes to the various leadership challenges we see today: men are often reluctant to step aside or create space for women, and women are often hesitant to step into leadership roles. We all have a part to play, right? What steps are you taking in your personal spaces or environments to challenge these beliefs and shift the mindset? Video credit: theleadingwomanshow_ @the leading woman show | WILAN Global —— Repost: Parents often condition their children to take on specific gender roles, with the male child being encouraged to be more assertive and the female child being told to take a backseat. This conditioning has birthed some of the problems we’re discussing, one of which is women often discouraged from vying for positions of power. How do we begin to solve this problem of gender conditioning?

Our researchers conducted a national survey, in partnership with the UC San Diego and the National Opinion Research Center (NORC) at the University of Chicago, that reveals ongoing gender and partisan divides in perceptions of women’s leadership abilities. Survey respondents were asked how much they agree or disagree with the following statement: “On the whole, men make better political leaders than women.” The survey findings indicate that while the majority of Americans do not believe men make better political leaders than women, there are differing opinions across gender and partisan lines. For instance, 16% of men agree with the statement, compared to only 10% of women. Happy International Womens Day to all the amazing women in my network! Defying gender bias in leadership begins at a young age, where girls who like to take charge are labeled as "bossy" and "loud", instead of empowering them and their capabilites. The article below is a great read on 5 ways all adults can lift girls up as leaders 💗 #internationalwomensday #inspireinclusion

International Women's Day is an annual powerful reminder to celebrate and recognise the achievements of women around the world. However, it's crucial to remember that the conversation around inclusion should not be limited to just one day. True progress requires continuous effort and commitment every single day. It's an ongoing conversation for lasting change. #inspireinclusion #femaleaders #leanin https://lnkd.in/g-ee7KUX

🌺 In the last four years, we've noticed a recurring pattern in the messages and emails we receive at House of Hibiscus – a significant number of people address us as "Sir." 🍀 This seemingly small detail reveals a deep-seated stereotype: the automatic assumption that leadership and expertise are inherently male traits. 🍁 This assumption isn't just a minor oversight; it reflects a pervasive bias that diminishes the visibility and recognition of women in leadership roles. 🌺 Despite our organization being women-led and youth-run, the default to "Sir" underscores how deeply ingrained gender stereotypes are in our society. 🦋 Addressing this isn't just about correcting a form of address; it's about challenging and changing a mindset that has long marginalized women leaders. #womeninbusiness

Today l celebrate anyone called WOMAN on this earth. The greatest multipliers, support systems, caregivers, leaders and strategists on earth, in my opinion. We are made for tough situations, Whatelse can be tougher than motherhood. May we inspire young women and girls of today to achieve double the portion. #Recommend an able, capable and qualified woman for a leadership position at every opportunity. May we be among those who make strategic decisions at every level. #InspireInclusion

It's important to recognize that effective leadership transcends gender stereotypes. Both male and female leaders can excel by leveraging their unique skills, experiences, and personalities to inspire and drive positive change within their organizations and communities. The goal should be to focus on leadership qualities and skills rather than relying on assumptions based on gender. #WomenLeaders #MaleLeaders #LeadershipQualities #PositiveChange

Ok, that's it. I am done. I’m officially over being mansplained to. As a woman in leadership, I’ve decided this is no longer how I choose to be talked to. I let it slide in the past, thinking it wasn’t worth the fight. But I’m done. The reality is that this behavior not only undermines women but also stifles progress. Here are some stats to chew on: • Women are interrupted 33% more often than men in professional settings. • 67% of women report feeling that their ideas are often overlooked until reiterated by a man. • Companies with more women in leadership see a 34% higher return to shareholders. These numbers don’t lie. If we want our organizations to thrive, we need to respect and uplift every voice at the table. It’s time to call out mansplaining for what it is: a subtle, insidious form of sexism. To my fellow women leaders, stop letting it slide. Speak up, challenge it, and demand the respect you deserve. To everyone else, do better. Listen, learn, and let’s move forward together. #DoBetterPeople

💼 Let's break barriers and rise up together! 💼 Did you know that women of color remain significantly underrepresented in leadership? As of 2023, they hold just 5% of executive roles, and in management positions, Black and Latina women each represent only 4.3%, while Asian women hold just 2.7%. Furthermore, for every 100 men promoted to management, only 73 women of color moved up. This disparity limits opportunities and hinders inclusion and equity in leadership. 🚨 This is why mentorship matters. By lifting each other up, sharing knowledge, and opening doors, we can collectively create more opportunities for women to advance and be more empowered. 🤝 Do you know a woman who mentors others? Tag them in the comments—we’d love to connect! 💬👩🏽🤝👩🏾 #WomenWithoutLimits #WomenSupportingWomen #BreakingBarriers #MentorshipMatters #DiversityInLeadership
