Favorite quote from this article: “I would recommend a youth apprenticeship program to anyone. Not only are you helping a young kid see a rewarding career in manufacturing, but you are also helping yourself and your company learn how to teach the younger generation." Co-founder/COO Matt Brunner of Brunner Fabrication LLC I love to see employers embracing and evangelizing this new role for themselves as co-leaders in the education of young people. When a young person chooses an apprenticeship, they aren't choosing to forego higher education. They are instead choosing a path that combines learning from teachers in a classroom and learning from skilled professionals in the workplace. Great article, Lincoln Brunner! #youthapprenticeship #employerengagement #apprenticeship #youthapprenticeships
Really wonderful to see my hometown of City of Manitowoc mentioned. As California thinks about #youthapprenticeships (and other mechanisms that blur the lines between secondary and postsecondary, with the intent to accelerate), we could take useful direction from what WI has been doing for decades. When I graduated, in 2000, some of my peers left mid day to head to apprenticeships, and WI is still at it 24 years later, and it's meeting the needs of young people and businesses. https://lnkd.in/g_YxbYf2
