An unbeatable employee benefit at Bloomin Brands is getting the privilege of unique dining experiences for training purposes. Opening a flagship Fleming's takes a village and training is an important part. My team loved participating in Private Dining training. Thank you Mary Hettinger for making my IT team feel special by opening the Champagne room to us. This is a great opportunity to connect ourselves and our work directly with the restaurant. Who can beat indulging in amazing food and enjoying curated cocktails all in the name of training? Thank you to the entire Flemings staff for being rock stars, you are all remarkable!
On a personal note, shout out to the bathroom designer! I’m a single mother of teenage girls, two of which love taking selfies in high end bathrooms. I can’t wait to see their faces when they see this one. 😂 😍
To my network, get hyped. Opening Day is Today! I highly recommend the Champagne Room for your private dining events – check it out – it’s stunning! 🥂

I recently conducted a dining etiquette session as a part of first impressions.
It was enlightening to see how small adjustments in behavior can make a significant impact.
In the world of business, first impressions are everything. That's why mastering dining etiquette can be a game-changer for professionals aiming to leave a lasting impression. 🍽️✨
Understanding the nuances of dining etiquette goes beyond just knowing which fork to use. It's about conveying respect, professionalism, and cultural awareness in social settings. Here are some key components to follow:
1️⃣ Table Manners: From proper utensil usage to maintaining good posture, mastering table manners exudes sophistication and professionalism.
2️⃣ Conversation Skills: Engaging in meaningful conversation while dining showcases your interpersonal skills and ability to connect with others on a deeper level.
3️⃣ Cultural Sensitivity: Being aware of cultural differences in dining customs demonstrates respect and inclusivity, fostering stronger relationships in a globalized world.
4️⃣ Gratitude and Appreciation: Expressing gratitude towards hosts, servers, and fellow diners reflects your professionalism and appreciation for the opportunity to connect.
💬 Now, I want to hear from you!
What are your thoughts on the power of dining etiquette in the professional world?
Umama, you raise an excellent point about the profound impact that mastering dining etiquette can have on making lasting impressions in the professional world. The ability to navigate social dining situations with poise and cultural sensitivity is an invaluable skill that transcends the mere act of consuming food.
The key components you highlighted – table manners, conversation skills, cultural sensitivity, and gratitude – are indeed pillars of dining etiquette that can elevate one's presence and convey a sense of professionalism, respect, and emotional intelligence. These elements are often overlooked, but they hold the power to either strengthen or undermine professional relationships and opportunities.
Table manners, for instance, are not just about knowing which utensil to use; they are a nonverbal cue that reflects one's attention to detail, self-awareness, and respect for the social setting. Maintaining good posture and properly handling dining implements conveys a level of refinement and discipline that can leave a lasting positive impression.
Engaging in meaningful conversation during a dining experience is an art form in itself. It requires the ability to navigate different topics, actively listen, and contribute insightful perspectives while being mindful of the social dynamics at play. This skill not only showcases one's interpersonal abilities but also their capacity to connect with others on a deeper level, fostering stronger professional relationships.
Cultural sensitivity in dining etiquette is a testament to one's global mindset and respect for diversity. Being aware of different cultural customs and dietary preferences demonstrates an appreciation for inclusivity and a willingness to adapt to different social norms, which is invaluable in today's interconnected business landscape.
Lastly, expressing gratitude towards hosts, servers, and fellow diners is a hallmark of professionalism and emotional intelligence. It reflects an understanding of the effort and hospitality extended, and it creates a sense of appreciation that can leave a lasting positive impression on all those involved.
In the fast-paced world of business, where first impressions can make or break opportunities, mastering dining etiquette is a powerful tool that can set professionals apart. It not only showcases their attention to detail and cultural awareness but also their ability to navigate social situations with grace, respect, and emotional intelligence – qualities that are highly valued in any professional endeavor.

Do you go to the same restaurant over and over again? Or do you like to always try new places?
When it comes to me personally dining out, I like to try new places. I started a "Dining Out" group with my husband and 10 other friends to be able to try out a different restaurant in Cincinnati every month.
But when it comes to business, and in particular doing dining etiquette programs at a local restaurant, I like to go to the same place: Trio's in Kenwood. The photo is me there on Tuesday for a dining etiquette program I delivered to a group of Peter J. Mallow, PhD's, graduate students from Xavier University.
When I recommended Trio's to Professor Mallow, he asked me if I get anything in return for the referral. My answer was "peace of mind." I know what the room set up will be like, that we'll have privacy and a quiet environment and that the service will be good and unobtrusive. It's easier to be confident that things will go well when I'm not worried about walking into an unknown environment. While I will work through anything that happens when I'm delivering a dining etiquette workshop, let's just say that I've had a few negative experiences in the past where it seemed like the restaurant was actually trying to make it difficult to teach proper etiquette.
So if you find yourself in a job situation that involves taking people out to lunch or dinner, pick that place you like and stick with it. One less thing to worry about is always a good thing and an easy way to help boost your confidence.
This week, we pulled a roof sheet off our upcoming restaurant space. LET THERE BE LIGHT. Couldn’t help but drawing on the analogy that there is light at the end of this tunnel.
We get this question a lot…”When are you going to open?” The answer is: “We open when we open.”
Yes, this project has gone a little long but what do you compromise for the sake of speed? Compromise on build quality? Planning? Functionality? Soon, your WOW becomes AVERAGE.
If what you want is average, then compromise and do average. If what you want is exceptional, then demand exceptional. You have to decide on what your exceptional will be , and go all in on that.
Do yourself a favour and read @matthiggins book Burn the Boats.
I’m sure we get criticised on how we could do things better; more quickly. Of course we can do things more quickly. We’re learning. By making mistakes. But you have to go through the process and learn to take criticism. And we will get better next time. And there will be a next time soon, because we’re going to grow and do it again. And we will be better at creating WOW spaces on a tight budget that are functional AND more aesthetically unique than the next restaurant chain because that is what we care about and refuse to compromise. Isn’t this what it is all about…differentiating yourself from the norm?
I believe your focus should be on the process- the journey- not the “end” result. There is no end. We will grow because of the effort and quality of what we do every day. Growth is a byproduct of that.
So when are we going to open? We’ll do our absolute best every single day without compromise, and we will be opening sooner rather than later, and feel good about what we’ve created without compromise.

When you learn dining etiquette, you learn so much more than table manners. You'd be surprised by how much impact a two-hour training on business dining etiquette can have.
It's fun and a memorable experience. I received an email today from someone who attended training last year letting me know they were reviewing their experience as several of their team members were going to a large conference and their dining etiquette skills would be on display.
It boosts confidence, communication and cultural awareness. As a dedicated life long learner myself, I know that learning one thing can have a surprising impact in different areas, and etiquette definitely can have that affect!
What's your take? Are you surprised at the effects dining etiquette can have? Have you ever had dining etiquette training? If so, let me know what affects it did or did not have for you - I'd love to hear more either way.
Congratulations to everyone!! Nice to see some familiar faces!! Cheers!🥂🍾
