If you've ever found yourself wishing you could easily capture and catalogue the key insights from content you listen to, you're not alone. With as much content as I consume this has really been a game changer. I find the best video or podcast gems all the time during my morning runs or long drives. They're those insights or quotes that I know I want to come back to or write a post about. Either I forget, or it just feels too tedious to go back and find that exact moment again - especially if it's a 2.5 hour Huberman Podcast... That's why I built this feature into my Content Hub. Not to just bookmark those moments, but to easily revisit and share them too. I'm loving it so far. Here's why: No more forgetting: Those "aha" moments are too good to lose. Bookmarking them means I can revisit anytime and keep things organized by topic. Insta Posts Made Easy: When I find something that resonates, I can share it as a post with just a couple clicks. I'm curious though, how are you currently tracking your content. Is it the notes app in your phone? Notion? Sticky notes?

If your podcast isn't entertaining, nobody will listen. "Keep it snappy and professional." That's what we're so often programmed to believe makes winning B2B content for a C-suite audience. We forget: CEOs are humans too. They can get bored or distracted. They listen for pleasure as well as information. No, that doesn't mean you have to figure out how to work in a segment of Carpool Karaoke to your show. But if you're not eliciting some sort of emotional response in your content, it won't make nearly as much impact. Provide original insight they can't get elsewhere with immediacy (timely, and in an efficient, convenient format) and they'll listen when they need to. But make them love the experience while they're there, and you'll become an essential part of their routine.

If you aren’t repurposing your podcast content, you are missing out on a lot of value. However, that’s what some companies do. They record an episode, publish it, and move on to the next. I’ve already said it before, recording a podcast takes a ton of work and effort. It can take anywhere from 5 to 50+ hours to deliver a 1-hour episode. You should do as much as possible to amplify each episode’s reach. Here are 5 ways to repurpose your podcast content: 1. Create graphics from pull-quotes. 2. Publish the transcripts for accessibility. 3. Promote the episode in your newsletter. 4. Use your metadata as social media copy. 5. Publish sections of your show notes on social media. These are just five examples, with enough creativity the possibilities are endless. And you don’t have to do everything you can think of. You need to be purposeful. But you should definitely use what you have to make each episode go further.

Reminder: There is no such thing as a lone wolf in content. Find someone in your niche and ask them to collab. I always have random guests, known and unknown, on my podcast. Of course the well-known ones add social proof to my personal brand... But even the unknown ones add value & variety to my content. If you're starting, it may be hard to collab with a huge creator. Look for someone who's one or two steps ahead of you instead. And make sure you find a way to make it a "no-brainer" for them.

Focus 👁️ A common trait in successful podcasts. Too often a new podcaster will speak to me about how they can do multiple podcasts at once, incorporate 2 ideas in to one or make content that pleases everyone. Stop. Being hyper focused on creating content for a specific listener avatar will get you results much quicker. Podcasters like Chris Williamson who have a more broad and less specific audience have earnt the right through years of content, amazing production and being a great host. If you’re an independent podcaster starting on a smaller budget then being focused and niche is your best bet of success. 🏆 (Ps. If you’re reading Chris, love the drink, would happily order a crate full if you’ll be a guest on our Podcast 👀) (Pss. Yes, I need to close some tabs, I know)

🎙️ Podcast Tip: Create “Listening and Viewing Points” for Better Engagement 🎙️ When producing a podcast that’s both audio and visual, plan for listening and viewing points—moments that stand out for both formats. These could be: - Listening Points: Clear, descriptive language that engages audio-only listeners. - Viewing Points: Visual cues, like expressions or graphics, that enhance the story for video viewers. - Creating intentional moments for both formats not only makes your content more engaging but also caters to diverse audiences. Looking for help creating a podcast that connects deeply in both formats? Message me to discuss how I can support your podcast journey!

How many of you are sitting on incredible content, waiting until you can make it perfect? I’ve been fortunate to understand from the very beginning of the podcast that the way forward is to get the content out there. Does that mean I’ve been happy with every show? Every post? Every video I’ve released? Far from it. More than once, I’ve even gone back, completely re-produced a podcast episode, and sneakily replaced the one I didn’t like. Yup, I’m guilty of trying to perfect it too. But here’s the deal: your content cannot be received if you don’t post it. Your message cannot be conveyed, and your inspiration and motivation cannot be felt. How many of you have already decided to release content but are waiting until you can convey the message perfectly? Well, I have some news, whether it’s great or not depends on your perspective. It will likely never be perfect. In the words of the great branding expert Amelia Sordell 🔥, Just ******* post it. Content is never perfect. But guess what? Neither is anyone. We’re all human. Your message needs to be heard. You have the ability to inspire and help the world. Stop holding yourself back. JUST POST IT! Catch you on the flip side! 🎸🌟

How are you helping your podcast listeners handle the ‘Dishwasher Problem’? Your listeners are almost always doing something else when they listen to your podcast. Have a look at the stats in the image below! Think about how long you spend putting an episode together. And if a person is listening while walking the dog, sitting in traffic or emptying the dishwasher what are they retaining? Dare I say… not a whole lot? If they are not retaining it, there is no chance they are putting it into practice. This is a huge problem with learning. Hearing something once is almost a waste of time. If a piece of content meets the Von Restorff effect (being unique and novel enough that it sticks out) then it will be remembered. If it doesn’t meet the Von Restorff criteria then most of what your listeners hear is unfortunately in one ear and out the other. Need proof? What do you truly remember from the last podcast you listened to? And if you did recall something now think - would you have ever recalled it if you were not prompted here? You would probably be on to the next thing, never to be thought about again. And so it goes for your listeners with your content. How are you helping your listeners embed the knowledge you have provided.

Could you create months of content in just a week? Here’s a simple system to make it happen: 1. Clear your schedule for 3-5 days. 2. Record 2-3 podcast episodes a day. 3. You’ve got 10-12 episodes in a week. 4. In 1-2 weeks, you’ve created 3 months of podcast content. 5. And those episodes become social posts, newsletters, and more. Now you’ve got 6 months of content from just 1-2 weeks of up-front work. It's not just about distributing your content. It’s about multiplying it. ♻️ P.S. Every Saturday, I give away the best repurposing and distribution frameworks and strategies to get the most out of your content. (Read with the link in the comments ↓)
