Check out this new case study in the gaming industry for Digital.ai #Application #Security. Monster Strike is a leading #mobile #game and chose Digital.ai to protect their application for a number of reasons including: - A comprehensive set of protections coupled with continuous threat monitoring and adaptation that help to address the ever evolving threat landscape. - Ease of integration into the Software Development Lifecycle. Application Security should not be a standalone tool, it needs to 'integrate right' into the SOC and 'integrate left' into the CI/CD pipeline. The outcome? A massive reduction in cheating, which has led to the game remaining very popular well over a decade after it was first launched. Interested to understand more? I am a #gamer and I have been since my dad let me start playing the Atari 2600 when I was 5. I have watched the evolution of gaming and been a part of it, I have even dabbled on the other side of "ethical" gaming by testing illicit software to see if it bypasses anti-cheat solutions. There is a very large debate about "kernel-level anti cheat" software such as what Riot Games implemented in Vanguard, but others such as "Easy Anti-Cheat" are also kernel level. There is a difference though, those are part of games you pay for (or Fortnite which is heavily scrutinized), so they tend to err on the side of caution with how they implement the anti-cheat. What about when the anti-cheat is bundled with a stealer, such as Lumma (LummaC in this case), then packaged in a "free" game and distributed via Steam. During the "testing" it was seen transmitting data to "unknown sources", but many didn't think much of it. Now that it's widely available I can only imagine the data being harvested on the back end... This is a very stark reminder that when something is "free" the chance of you being the "product" is extremely likely. You should always research what is being installed, even by products you pay for, as attacks like this are becoming far too common. Good news, people should not be installing this on business machines, but better news is our security stack shut this down without thinking twice. #Prevention in action, keeping you safe from yourselves! TiMi Studio Group you might want to take a look before this blows up on you. It's confirmed from my lab that LummaStealer is being leveraged within the anti-cheat.

🖍️ “So, I’ve given you a box of crayons, create the most horrible, terrible, awful thing that you could ever imagine.” - Joshua M. Davis, SHRAPNEL. User-generated content in games can also be “a vortex to hell,” challenging #trustandsafety teams with all kinds of risks.
