Reflecting on the rapid changes and poor decisions seen this past year, it's clear that sustainability in leadership requires more than just a vision—it demands accountability, genuine experience, and a deep commitment to the long-term well-being of all stakeholders. Are we nurturing leaders who prioritize quick wins over lasting impact? The future of this industry hinges on this answer.
This past year has just amazed me (specifically in aerospace/aviation), with so many companies and boards shuffling around their senior management every 6-18 months, rebranding unprofitable products and service offerings, creating ridiculous positions and/or hiring totally unqualified persons, then months later begin discounting or offering deep concessions which basically tell me you’re 1) close to running out of money 2) prepaid services probably won’t be delivered 3) fire sale or closing the doors is pretty probable The reckless leadership and unbelievably frivolous spending so many companies in this industry are guilty of, truly makes me question HOW some of these CEO/CCO’s were even hired for the job! If you’ve never built or have run a company before, then you have zero idea what it feels like to write that check out of your own bank account. Be responsible at a level that you put your employees, their families, customers and shareholders first. Real leaders make sacrifices to ensure those folks are always top of mind. Do Better.

Many large companies have dedicated hiring teams focused on acquiring military service members that are transitioning back to the civilian workforce You can and should be trying to hire them too.
