Our drivers earn an average of £500 to £1200 per week, depending on the size of their vehicle, their degree of commitment, and the amount of work they can complete. In order to meet your preferences, we provide a combination of local and long-distance work. Rates vary based on vehicle size or zones and customer requirements, and payment is primarily based on miles carried or zones. Campaign group Possible are calling for safer routes, fairer pay, and better access to #ebikes for London’s food couriers, following the publication of research they have undertaken alongside the Independent Workers’ Union of #GreatBritain. Titled Hot Wheels: Working lanes for working people, the report looks into London’s booming food delivery industry- a phenomena replicated across the rest of the country – and have identified strategies which would benefit the couriers, the city and the environment. 10% of all cycle journeys in London involve the delivery of food while many more deliveries are made by mopeds and motorbikes. In the Foreward to the report, Shaf Hussain, a #London cycle courier talks about his eight years of experience delivering around the capital: ‘For us couriers, the lack of decent cycle lanes is definitely an issue. Because I’ve been doing this job for so long, I’ve learnt to navigate the busy roads pretty well, but even for me it’s still dangerous. ‘Couriers need properly segregated, high-quality lanes that recognise cycling isn’t just for leisure, but a key part of infrastructure for London’s courier workforce and the whole economy.’ In a survey that formed part of the research, over 60% of couriers said they feel unsafe on the roads, and 80% said they would use protected cycle lanes or low-traffic routes if they were available. The thrust of Possible’s report is not just to make life easier and safer for cycle couriers, but to persuade motorcyclists and moped users to switch to emission free transport. The environmental impact of the food delivery sector is not inconsiderable. The following table shows the estimated distance travelled by all food delivery workers, by mode and the #carbonemissions generated (calculated for 2022). - moped: 116m km – 5,648 CO2e tonnes - bikes/ e-bikes: 94m km – 0 - motorbike: 43m km – 3,861 CO2e tonnes - car/van: 24m km – 3,755 CO2e tonnes Possible are recommending that local and devolved governments should introduce scrappage schemes or social leasing policies to make legal e-bikes, genuinely affordable for couriers who most need them. They would also like to see measures taken to provide a safer working environment for couriers, based around high quality cycle infrastructure and lower traffic routes. Their recommendations for the national government include producing guidelines for local authorities to tackle road danger, increase enforcement around dangerous driving, and tackle the rise in illegally modified electric motorcycles that – they point out a number of times – are wrongly perceived as e-bikes.

The Trucking Industry in December 2024: What You Should Know It’s hard to believe we’re in the final month of the year, but here we are! How Will Dry Van Trailer Capacity Change in December? This is traditionally the busiest shopping month of the year, with consumers buying gifts, home decor, and ingredients for festive feasts. But because most of these items have already been delivered to stores well before retail peak season, dry van traffic is winding down. In fact, dry vans are about to enter their slowest period, which traditionally occurs during the first quarter (January through March) of the new year. Drivers will also be in shorter supply this month, as they’ll be taking advantage of the slow holiday season and enjoying extended home time with their loved ones. . How Will Open-Deck Capacity Change in December? As it gets colder (and snowier) in many parts of the country, open-deck trailers like flatbeds and step-decks understandably fall out of favor. In these regions, construction season is wrapped up until spring, which takes a significant portion of open-deck freight off the table. Tasks like tarping become more difficult and dangerous in winter weather, too. These factors will make it harder to find an open deck truck this December, especially in areas experiencing true winter. Open-deck drivers will occasionally pivot to driving dry van trailers during this time, so they can continue working in the winter months. While this can be a great option for drivers, it unfortunately doesn’t make it easier for shippers to source a flatbed or open-deck solution. That’s why it’s critical to plan ahead and schedule a truck if you’ll be shipping any unenclosed freight in December. Shipping Over-Dimensional (OD) Freight in December Like any other freight type, over-dimensional (OD) freight movements will undoubtedly be affected by winter weather. The snow, ice, wind, and temperatures can be unpredictable this time of year and cause significant delays on short notice. But OD freight is unique in its relationship to daylight hours, which are in short supply this month. Most states and provinces restrict oversize freight travel to daylight hours, so expect over-dimensional hauls to take longer (and cost more) in December, the shortest month of the year. Many states & provinces also restrict permitted freight travel on holidays, and state permit offices will be closed on state and federal holidays. How to Plan for Shipping During the Holidays Shipping on or around the holiday season takes proactive planning, communication, and coordination between shippers, carriers, and drivers. By planning ahead, communicating with your shipping stakeholders, and choosing flexibility in your scheduling, you can ensure your December is full of festive cheer, not shipping fears. Cheers,

Navigating Hours of Service (HOS) in Chauffeured Transportation: A Guide to Staying Compliant and Safe In the chauffeured transportation industry, adhering to Hours of Service (HOS) regulations is crucial. These rules are not just for long-haul truckers; they significantly impact our sector as well. Their primary goal is to ensure that our drivers are operating in the safest and most restful conditions, which in turn enables them to provide top-notch service to our clients. Let’s delve into what these regulations entail and how they apply to our field. Why HOS Matters in Chauffeured Transportation HOS rules aren’t just for big trucks and buses; they’re crucial for passenger transportation as well. These regulations are in place to ensure our drivers aren’t overworked, which helps prevent fatigue-related accidents. They apply to drivers in interstate commerce, operating vehicles designed or used to carry 9 passengers (including the driver) for compensation. Keep in mind that most states have adopted federal interstate HOS rules for intrastate operators, while some others have their own unique rules. The Three Big Rules for HOS 1.) 15-Hour On-Duty Limit: Our drivers can’t be on duty (which includes driving and other work tasks) for more than 15 hours at a stretch. Keep in mind that no violation actually occurs until a driver crosses over the 15 hours on duty, and drives again before their legally required 8-hour break. It’s like saying, “After 15 hours, let’s take a well-deserved break.” Drivers are allowed to stop their on-duty 15-hour clock by going off duty. This is different than cargo carriers once their day starts, where the clock runs continuously meaning their day must end on time if they are still going to be driving at the end of their day. 2.) 8-Hour Consecutive Break😀Once a driver hits that 15-hour mark, they need to take a break for at least 8 consecutive hours. Think of it as the necessary recharge time. 3.) 60/70-Hour Limit: Here’s a bigger-picture rule. If our drivers are operating every day of the week, they can’t be on duty for more than 60 hours over 7 consecutive days or 70 hours over 8 consecutive days.
