A strong founding team in a mediocre market will always beat a mediocre team in a great market. I’ve had experience working with both types of teams, and the difference is huge - it can make or break a startup. That’s why I always advise founders searching for their next venture to start from a broad understanding of the area they want to work in, without focusing too much on it. After that, their top priority should be defining the profile of their ideal co-founder(s). The right co-founders are almost always more important than the idea itself. Focus on finding the right co-conspirators first, also because if they’re strong and you work well together as a team, they’ll help shape and refine your idea into something great. Too often, I’ve seen founders obsess over finding the perfect idea for years, and then quickly jumping into bed with almost random or just convenient people (friends, family) who are convenient. This approach rarely works, especially in a very fast-paced, high-stakes world of AI. By prioritizing the founding team, you’ll increase your odds of building something truly remarkable😎

Your unique positioning, especially as an AI startup in a saturated market where 2²⁰ other startups might be solving for a similar problem, can make or break your success. Find a PR firm to help with unique positioning before pitching your startup into prestigious recognition.

We had our off-site event last week. It was brilliant having everyone in the same room!
