Tel Aviv, July 29, 2024; The Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Israel) today launched the Amcham Israel AI Forum. The Forum includes leading Amcham member companies, Amdocs, Cisco, Amazon (AWS), Microsoft, Google, Meta, Natural Intelligence, Intel, IBM, Citi, Deloitte, Meitar and others. The Forum aims to serve as a bridge and central hub for the Israeli-American industry that develops and uses AI, creating opportunities to drive significant advancements in the AI Ecosystem in Israel. This will be achieved through close collaboration between the government, industry, and academia. The Forum's objectives are to provide a platform for dialogue and cooperation among companies and entities in the field of Artificial Intelligence. It aims to facilitate discussions on developing Israel’s AI ecosystem and maintaining its leadership in the sector. This includes initiatives like programs for training and retaining the next generation of talent, developing advanced AI defense technologies, promoting dialogue between the business sector and the government to shape the future of AI responsibly and safely, supporting the adoption of AI in the public sector, and fostering international and regional collaborations, particularly with companies from the Abraham Accords countries. Oren Sagi, Amcham's Chairman and CEO of Cisco Israel, stated at the meeting: "The new forum will deepen cooperation with our strategic partners both in Israel and in the U.S., and promote the AI sector in Israel, creating a supportive ecosystem and collaborating with academia and government." Hadas Lorber, the Amcham Forum’s director, who until recently led the strategic technological dialogue between the U.S. and Israel, added: "Creating a supportive environment for AI in Israel is crucial for maintaining the country's technological leadership. The Western world is in the process of shaping AI regulations that balance the opportunities the technology offers humanity with the risks associated with its use. In this regulatory process, direct dialogue between industry and government is critical to achieving the best outcomes for Israel." She emphasized that "the partnership between the private and public sectors will help strengthen Israel’s economy".
