Joint Statement of the U.S.-Israel Chamber of Commerce and the Israel-Gulf States Chamber of Commerce The Abraham Accords, signed in 2020, have significantly improved Israel's regional standing and recognized Israel as a leader in technological and economic prosperity and growth. On the eve of October 7, 2023, there was an opportunity to advance normalization agreements with Saudi Arabia. This development could have strengthened the Abraham Accords alliance. However, the "Iron Swords" war slowed this process. The war highlighted the increasing need for a stable, economically moderate alliance capable of playing a strategic role in the region. The United States is the connecting and stabilizing pillar of these agreements. Today, more than ever, its role as a key player in any future regional agreement that includes Saudi Arabia and the Gulf States is critical to the success of the initiative. In light of this, we at the U.S.-Israel Chamber of Commerce and the Israel-Gulf Chamber of Commerce see it as both a duty and a privilege to join forces and promote the economic foundation that relies on the business sectors in Israel, the U.S., and the Gulf States. We believe that an economic Abraham Alliance is the right platform for building a stable and sustainable political and strategic alliance. We call for a path that will contribute to prosperity and stability in the Middle East, which will help realize the business and economic potential of the countries in the region and their residents. Therefore, we call for the inclusion of additional countries in the Abraham Accords and for reaching a normalization agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Tel Aviv, August 18, 2024.  Amcham ICT Members Met with Deputy Assistant Secretary Amb. Steve Lang, U.S. Coordinator for International ICT Policy. Ambassador Lang and the U.S. State Department team provided an overview of the Bureau of Cyberspace and Digital Policy goals and the reasons for the visit to Israel and other countries in the region. The discussion covered several topics including robustness of the Israeli ICT sector, and its importance for the U.S. ICT companies a source of innovation. The business-government opportunities, both in Israeli government adoption of technology, and in harmonizing policy between the U.S. and Israel. Opportunities of both government and the business sector to use technology, and specifically AI as a vehicle for greater regional collaboration. The role of business in the bi-lateral U.S. – Israel relations and the fact that Israel is firmly rooted in the U.S. like-minded sphere. We look forward to continuing this dialogue, and to maintaining an open line of communications between Amcham and its members, and your bureau on these and any other topics. Tel Aviv, July 29, 2024; The Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Israel) today launched the Amcham Israel AI Forum. The Forum includes leading Amcham member companies, Amdocs, Cisco, Amazon (AWS), Microsoft, Google, Meta, Natural Intelligence, Intel, IBM, Citi, Deloitte, Meitar and others. The Forum aims to serve as a bridge and central hub for the Israeli-American industry that develops and uses AI, creating opportunities to drive significant advancements in the AI Ecosystem in Israel. This will be achieved through close collaboration between the government, industry, and academia. The Forum's objectives are to provide a platform for dialogue and cooperation among companies and entities in the field of Artificial Intelligence. It aims to facilitate discussions on developing Israel’s AI ecosystem and maintaining its leadership in the sector. This includes initiatives like programs for training and retaining the next generation of talent, developing advanced AI defense technologies, promoting dialogue between the business sector and the government to shape the future of AI responsibly and safely, supporting the adoption of AI in the public sector, and fostering international and regional collaborations, particularly with companies from the Abraham Accords countries. Oren Sagi, Amcham's Chairman and CEO of Cisco Israel, stated at the meeting: "The new forum will deepen cooperation with our strategic partners both in Israel and in the U.S., and promote the AI sector in Israel, creating a supportive ecosystem and collaborating with academia and government." Hadas Lorber, the Amcham Forum’s director, who until recently led the strategic technological dialogue between the U.S. and Israel, added: "Creating a supportive environment for AI in Israel is crucial for maintaining the country's technological leadership. The Western world is in the process of shaping AI regulations that balance the opportunities the technology offers humanity with the risks associated with its use. In this regulatory process, direct dialogue between industry and government is critical to achieving the best outcomes for Israel." She emphasized that "the partnership between the private and public sectors will help strengthen Israel’s economy". Tel Aviv, July 31, 2024. Amcham Israel Board members, led by Chairman Oren Sagi, met with U.S. Ambassador to Israel and Amcham honorary chairperson, Jack Lew, along with the U.S. senior commercial and economic team for a working session. The meeting focused on collaboration between the U.S. Embassy and Amcham on various topics, including U.S.–Israel strategic partnerships in healthcare, artificial intelligence, and regional cooperation led by the business sector.
