🤔Q: I’m used to being on the Partner track. How do I know what support and mentoring I need now that I actually am a Partner? 😀A: Look internally first. Ask yourself some core questions, and then ask others for help. Your leadership development is definitely not over once you get promoted! You’re essentially starting over on a new career path, and it’s up to you to chart your course. This is your opportunity to look internally and discover the kind of Partner and leader you want to be, and where you need to grow to get there. Then, it’s up to you to seek out the resources to support you along the way. ✨It’s helpful to ask yourself some core questions: 1. What does success look like for me as a Partner? 2. How can I authentically prosper in my new role? 3. What's my Why? 4. What do I value most? What are the values that will guide my leadership approach and decisions? 5. What difference do I want to make at the firm? 6. How do I want to show up as a leader? We know this transition can feel chaotic because everything is new, the stakes are higher, and you probably feel like you don't have time for anything extra, especially self development. However, you still need to set goals and create new avenues of support, just as you did on your path to Partner. Now is when you need it most - investing in your own growth and development will ease your transition and set you up for the success you want! Are you seeking some support in your new role? We’ve been there and would love to help. Let’s connect. #thetimeisnow #dimensionofpossible #accountingfirms #cpa #futureready #newPartners

What can you do when you're not getting any traction on your search for your next leadership role? It's a question many of us have faced, and here's what you must do: Don't lessen your value. Embrace it. When it feels like you're hitting a brick wall in your job search, don't compromise your worth. Instead, learn your value and promote it. You're a leader. It's important to have conversations with other leaders as equals. Stay connected. It's essential to keep in touch with the right people and plenty of them. In doing so, you create a strategic network for yourself. Make your meetings about them, not you. Instead of focusing solely on the job you're seeking, turn the conversation towards the individuals you're reaching out to. Think about the value you can offer to them. Identify your desired outcomes. Understand what you want from your search and focus on the activities that will take you there faster. Avoid falling into the trap of busywork that yields no results. Remember, as a leader, your value extends far beyond a job title. Keep these insights in mind as you navigate your job search and believe in the value you bring to the table. A highly successful CEO/Founder of a fast-growing SME shared with me that every day the senior team have the same exchange ‘This is the biggest company we’ve ever run, we have never done this before!’ It stuck in my mind as it makes a relevant point about leadership roles and the part leaders play within an organisation. It could be relevant when you are next interviewing for a key commercial leadership role. The reality is that the ‘hero style’ of leadership is a thing of the past. Leadership isn't about having all the answers or feeling/looking confident 100% of the time. It's about embracing uncertainty, fostering growth, leading with authenticity, and leaning into the reality that every day presents new challenges, opportunities, and moments for learning. When you are interviewing for the next member of your senior leadership team, whilst you’re looking for certain skills and experience, the candidate’s ability to seek out information, solve complex problems, deal with uncertainty, and make decisions also needs to be front of mind. Your company is likely to be faced with new problems. With that in mind, what style of leadership or skill set do you need on your team? #TalentAcquisition #ExecutiveRecruitment #RecruitmentStrategies

I was too proud to admit that I'm maybe not the best manager for the business I want to build. It's probably why a hire didn't work out last year. I learnt from my past mistakes and I am working with Cheryl Wing to become the best version of myself - as a leader and a manager. They are two different things in my opinion. Working with Cheryl has allowed me to not only build a strong foundation to build my business on, but also allow me to accept and learn new ways of doing things. We don't have it all figured out, and it's ok to admit it. But to do nothing, it not only affects you, but the people in your team and those around you. Don't be that person! If you know you aren't great, or you've had bad feedback from your team, take it as a blessing in disguise and get the support/training you need to be the best you can for yourself and the people you work with. If you don't, you've got no one else to blame but yourself when things don't go the way you planned. #leadership #management #growth

Are you stepping into a new role? Or starting one soon? Embarking on a new role in an organisation can be incredibly exhilarating, offering a fresh start and a blank canvas. The essential leadership lessons not taught in MBA programs. Let’s talk about some leadership lessons I’ve learned throughout my career that weren’t part of an MBA. • Treat people how you want to be treated. • Don’t ask people to do something you would not be willing to do yourself • Don’t micromanage. Give people the freedom to excel. • Share the credit. Success is always a team sport and should be celebrated together. • Understand your teammate’s career goals and help them achieve them • Be empathetic. We are all human and face challenges • Allow people to express themselves and their concerns • Never discipline someone in public. When necessary do it in private • Reward the hardest workers on your team. If you don’t, they will find another employer who will • Don’t judge others. People need to feel safe coming to you with challenges without fear of repercussion. • Everyone has talent. If a teammate is struggling but is trying, find a place where they can be successful with your team or elsewhere in the company. Learning these valuable lessons afforded me many opportunities to be an effective leader. I’ve shared my knowledge to help transform many careers toward success and I hope you can use these lessons to enhance your career and those around you! I found opportunity in chaos, and it skyrocketed my leadership journey. I am going to say the quiet part out loud: finding opportunity in chaos is not easy. I learned this lesson early in my leadership journey and shared it with some folks earlier this week. Change, challenges and confusion will happen in your role, your team, your organization, and your industry. You can count on it. But how you choose to respond in those moments is what matters. You can: • Complain like everyone else • Withdraw and say it is not your problem to deal with • Wait for your boss or someone else to tell you what is going to happen OR you can: • Stay positive • Do your homework on what is causing the chaos • Use that homework to develop solutions and path forward • Present your solutions and the path forward that you've developed • Show up and show out when everyone else stands down. Finding opportunity in chaos takes courage. And it is not the opportunity or solution that will be noticed...it is the courage you had to find a path forward when no one else is willing to do so. Chaos is your opportunity to lead not follow. Do you agree? #leadership #opportunity #creativity #gettingthingsdone
