That first year as a Partner can be drastically different, difficult, and overwhelming as you navigate imposter syndrome, financial changes, and a new routine with less support and direction.
To explore the top leadership challenges, opportunities, and surprises experienced by new partners, we developed the Intend2Lead New Partner Experience Survey.
We’re sharing it with firms, colleagues, peers, and advocates to gather as much feedback as we can in the next month, so we can:
Help firms better support the leadership development of their new Partners
Give new Partners a sense of shared experience and the ability to see and understand the experiences of others in the profession
Refine our new Partner coaching programs, so we can be of even better service and support to this critical leadership group
Your participation will help accounting firms and organizations better support the leadership development of new Partners. .
If you are in public accounting and were promoted to the highest level at your accounting firm, effective January 1, 2023 or later, you are invited to participate in this survey here. (Note: We refer to this role as "Partner" throughout the survey; however, your firm may have another name for this role such as Principal, Shareholder, Owner, Managing Director, etc.)

What should you expect when taking this survey?
This survey includes primarily multiple choice questions, with a few optional, fill-in-the-blank questions.
The questions gather general demographic information about you and your firm, your leadership challenges, the development you're receiving as a recently promoted Partner, and how effective you feel in your new role.
We expect this survey will take approximately 10-20 minutes to complete.
Your survey results will remain anonymous and cannot be traced back to you or your firm.
We expect to publish the results of this survey in 2025. If you would like to receive the results, you may include your email address at the end of the survey. We hope this information will help you better advocate for yourself and your leadership development.

Intend2Lead is a leadership development company that coaches accountants to access the Dimension of Possible. Amongst other things, we design and deliver leadership programs to support recently promoted Partners and prepare professionals on the path to Partnership.
