❄️5 fire prevention tips to keep in mind when decking the halls this holiday season! ❄️ 🔌1. Inspect and Maintain Electrical Systems: Before decorating for the holidays, have a licensed electrician inspect and maintain your business's electrical system. Ensure that all wiring, outlets, and extension cords are in good condition and up to code. Overloaded circuits can lead to electrical fires. 🎅2. Properly Install Decorations: When decorating your business, use only commercial-grade, fire-resistant decorations and lights. Avoid placing decorations near heat sources, such as heaters or stoves. Secure decorations to prevent them from falling or being knocked over. 💡3. Use LED Lights: Opt for LED holiday lights, as they generate less heat and are more energy-efficient than traditional incandescent lights. LED lights reduce the risk of overheating and are less likely to ignite flammable materials. 🎄4. Mind the Christmas Tree: If you have a live Christmas tree in your business, keep it well-watered to prevent it from drying out and becoming a fire hazard. Ensure the tree is at a safe distance from heat sources and exit routes. Consider using a fire-resistant tree skirt. 🕯️5. Establish Decorative Candle Guidelines: If you use candles for decoration, choose flameless LED candles instead, which mimic the look of real candles without the fire risk. If you must use real candles, keep them in secure, non-flammable holders, and never leave them unattended. Implement a strict policy for their use and extinguishment. We hope you have a happy and safe holiday season!

Fire Prevention Week – Part 3 🔥 Electrical Hazards – 4 Simple Tips ⚡ - Avoid overloading outlets and extension leads - Unplug appliances when they are not in use - Regularly inspect wiring and cords for damage – replace them immediately if they are frayed or cracked - Only hire licensed electricians to carry out repairs and upgrades Storing Flammable Materials 🛢 – Store flammable liquids like paint thinners and cleaning products in approved containers in cool, well-ventilated areas, away from heat sources. Any rags soaked with flammable liquids need to be disposed of properly and promptly, as these can spontaneously combust. Candles 🕯 – We all like a scented candle, but we need to be aware of their risks. Always have lit candles on stable, heat-resistant surfaces, kept away from flammable items like bedding and curtains. Never leave a candle unattended. Blow them out, even if you are only leaving the room for a short while, and never leave them in reach of pets or children. If you are concerned, a great safe alternative is using battery-operated flameless candles. #FirePreventionWeek #FirePreventionTips #ElectricalSafety #ElectricalHazards #FlammableMaterials #FlammableMaterialStorage #CandleSafety

"The Anatomy of Kitchen Fires" Fire safety is crucial in every kitchen! 🔥 🚒 Here's a quick guide to understanding kitchen suppression systems: 🔎Detection: The system uses heat detectors or fusible links placed inside the hood and over kitchen equipment. These sensors detect abnormal temperature increases or flames. 🔎Activation: When a fire is detected, the system is automatically activated. Some systems also have a manual activation button. 🔎Alarm: When the system is activated, audible and visual alarms start. This alerts kitchen staff and initiates the evacuation process. 🔎Suppression: Upon activation, suppression agent is sprayed through pipes. Typically, liquid chemical agents (potassium-based solutions) or foam are used. These agents are specially formulated to extinguish grease fires. 🔎Fuel Shut-off: The system also automatically cuts off gas and electrical sources. This helps prevent the fire from spreading. 🔎Ventilation Control: Hood fans automatically shut off or switch to a special mode to control the fire. 🔎Cleaning and Reset: After the fire is extinguished, the system must be cleaned and refilled by professionals. The system needs to be made ready for use again. Protect your kitchen, staff, and customers with proper fire safety measures. Regular maintenance is key! 🔧🛡️ For more information, click the link in our bio or send us a DM. All landlords including holiday let owners, must comply with fire safety regulations. A fire risk assessment is a legal requirement that will identify potential fire hazards and how to avoid or minimise the risk. All landlords must: ✅ Make sure all gas appliances are installed and checked by a Gas Safe registered engineer, do annual gas safety checks, and provide a gas safety check record. ✅ Ensure that all electrics are safe and fit for use, including sockets, light fitting, cookers, kettles, and other electrical appliances. ✅ Provide a smoke alarm on each floor as well as a carbon monoxide alarm in rooms with fuel burning appliances. ✅ Make sure all furniture and furnishings they supply are fire resistant by checking the manufacturers permanent label. ✅ Provide fire blankets and fire extinguishers where required, e.g. in an HMO. If you need advice on whether your properties are compliant with fire regulations or need a fire risk assessment, get in touch with Optimum Safety at https://lnkd.in/eS4ATTJH or email us at [email protected]. #OptimumSafety #FireSafety #FireRiskAssessment #Landlords #HolidayLets #RentalProperties #HealthAndSafety #HSE

According to the NFPA, in a five-year period, house fires caused 2,620 deaths and $6.9 billion in property damage. The top three causes of house fires are cooking, heating equipment, and electrical malfunctions. FEMA stated that more than 3000 Americans die each year. The same scenario happened here in the Philippines. According to BFP, there is an increase of 21. 1 in fires in 2023, after 15,900 were recorded. In times like this, we have to be aware and alert. Take note of some of these fire safety tips: 1. Unplug all unused devices. 2. If fire happens, stop, drop, and roll if your clothing is on fire. 3. Touch the door handles to test if they are hot before opening the door. 4. Have a regular check-up on your electrical wiring. 5. In case of fire, open a fire extinguisher. Use the acronym PASS: 𝗣𝘂𝗹𝗹 the pin 𝗔𝗶𝗺 low at the base of the fire 𝗦𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗲𝘇𝗲 the handle slowly 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗽 the nozzle side to side #firesafetytips #housefires #cebuinsights #NFPA #housefirestatistics READ MORE TIPS HERE 👇
