[Life at Qovery 💜 ] For once, I’m allowing myself to share a more personal post on a professional social network to highlight the values of my company, Qovery. More than the nice offices, more than the cutting-edge equipment, more than the offsites abroad, this is what makes me truly appreciate my journey here. Humanity. Beyond being employees, we are, above all, human beings. This summer, I lost a close family member. I had the opportunity to spend time with her during the last moments. I felt comfortable sharing what I was going through with my team, and with the founders as well (which is already a big step, as it’s not always easy to share personal matters in a professional setting). I talked a bit about it with the CEO of Qovery, and this was his response: "I can't even imagine what you're feeling. If you need time off, don't hesitate, even without using your vacation days." This is truly representative of what we experience at Qovery. This is our culture. This is why I want to stay on this journey for as long as possible. So this company has me blocked from making comments! 1099 companies are terrible for healthcare! They do not offer their independent contractors the benefits they deserve. They deliberately misclassify these people as contractors instead of workers, just to avoid paying payroll taxes and the costs of benefits. The Labor Dept is cracking down on these companies and many facilities are being sued and viewed to be the real employer, thus requiring them to pay the back payroll taxes and benefits for these workers. In addition, if there are problems with employee performance, there is not much of an office staff to address those issues. Their credentialling processes are poor because they are not healthcare professionals who really care. When these workers have pay issues, they go through so much stress to get paid what they are due. There are SO many reasons to avoid hiring 1099 agencies! Google this matter and read the facts!

Last Friday was my last day at Preply, after 3+ years of doing in-house M&A for this amazing company, full of talented and driven people. What started as an experiment turned into an incredible journey with many discoveries, unforgettable experiences, and new friends all over the world. I’m really thankful to Kirill Bigai and the team for that, as well as for giving me the chance to focus on one area - something I hadn’t had in a while before joining Preply. Looking back, did it work? It’s hard to talk about M&A wins without diving into confidential stuff, but in short, yes. In a fragmented market, especially in B2B, a small in-house M&A team can get done in a year what a bigger regional team might take three years to do. Plus, the bonus of removing competitors and gaining specific expertise. That said, unless M&A is your main growth driver, you can’t always be in buying mode, the business needs to recharge. So for now, my work at Preply is done, and I’m super excited about my next project. I say “project” because I’ve never really felt like an “employee”; every company I’ve worked for, I’ve treated like it was my own, and every colleague like a valued client. Which makes it even more difficult to say goodbye! 2020 was a year of uncertainty and turmoil for me. I left the veterinary field, grappling with burnout, mental health struggles, and uncertainty about my future during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Shortly after, I found a new beginning at Zenti in December, stepping into the unfamiliar world of sales, yet full of promise. Fast forward to 2021, within just a year at Zenti, I was recognized for my efforts and promoted twice, marking the start of my transformative journey in the fintech and payments industry. Now, in 2024, I have: - Ascended to the role of Director of Strategic Partnerships at Zenti. - Rekindled my passion for photography and horseback riding, integrating these joys into my life once more. - A profound sense of purpose, contributing to the fintech and payments space. - An incredible circle of friends and peers who support and inspire me daily. 4 dreams I hardly dared to envision back in 2020.
