🌍 Happy Earth Day! Today, we're reflecting on the impact of our tree-planting efforts: #TeamTransparity helped plant 1200 trees during our Impact Day in February! Led by our Chief People & Culture Officer, Neil Tune MSc, MA, FCIPD, ACC, along with Michelle Wilson (Assoc CIPD), Natalie Brazier, Alison Evershed, Alex Anderson, Jasmin Devonshire, James Kenyon, and Lee Chant, we planted Hawthorn, Rowan, Willow, and Oak trees—all grown in the UK—on the re-wilding site called Yonder Oak in Exmouth. Despite the rain, our team and other companies joined forces to protect our woodlands for future generations. This Earth Day, we celebrate our achievements in becoming a greener business, achieving Carbon Neutral status with a plan for net zero emissions. Since partnering with The Woodland Trust in April 2022, we've provided £43,000 toward environmental projects, including the Emergency Tree Fund Phase 1 and this year's Urban Tree Project. These initiatives improve biodiversity, access to nature, and mitigate floods, benefiting communities across the UK. Our Winning From Anywhere initiative, embracing home-based work, has reduced our carbon footprint, improved work-life balance, and supported our business growth while prioritising employee well-being. We believe that connecting with nature enhances performance, and our partnership with the Woodland Trust underscores our commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable practices 🌳 Learn more about our commitments to a more sustainable world 👉 https://lnkd.in/ebkzRxEz #EarthDay #Sustainability #TreePlanting #EnvironmentalImpact #WinningFromAnywhere Heidi Rowan

🌳 Ready to make a meaningful impact with just a few clicks? As many of you may know, we call #Nottingham home, a city rich with history, including the legend of The Major Oak. 🌳 Beneath its ancient branches, it's said that Robin Hood and his Merry Men found shelter and made their home. Estimated to be between 800-1,000 years old, this majestic tree inspires us to ensure that more living legends grace our landscapes for generations to come. Surprisingly, many of our oldest trees lack legal protection. The Woodland Trust is urging governments across the UK to change this. Will you join us in signing the petition to help protect these #LivingLegends? Sign the petition now at 👉 https://bit.ly/3uROrna and let's make a difference together! 🌱🌿📝 But our commitment doesn't stop there! As a proud B Corp we understand the importance of sustainable practices in preserving our environment. Which is why we are also partnered with Carbon Capture® to mitigate the CO₂ emissions from our paper purchases by digging in and planting native woodland, right here in the UK, through the The Woodland Trust and the Woodland Carbon scheme. #Sustainability #CarbonCapture #nottinghamshire #woodland #Environment #GreenInitiatives #NatureConservation #ecofriendly #communityengagement #environmentalprotection #BCorp #NewBCorp #BCorporation #BCorpMonth

This past weekend one of our key suppliers posted this event they took part in upping their game in our minds as the truly sustainable brand that we love to have in our stock as a premier brand. Not only do they make a brand with purpose in mind, Sustainability, they also walk the talk in their company culture. The snow was still falling in a swirl in Calgary yesterday and today the sun is bright and clear in our skies. For Canada, this time of year means, crazy weather, new growth, the grass gets green, tulips pop, and river cleanups! Community spring clean-up events are fantastic opportunities for neighbours to come together and improve the appearance and livability of their neighbourhoods. They promote a sense of civic pride and unity while making tangible improvements to the local environment. Spring clean-ups also serve as a reminder of the importance of environmental stewardship and encourage individuals to take responsibility for keeping their communities clean and beautiful. The outfit of the day can look like this: thick soled boots, long pants, a long sleeve shirt, lots of garbage bags, ball caps and community spirit. There's always a group to join, a corporate event you can start within your company that can lead to your band of clean up crews. A quote from Atlantis Headwear's website, For us, being sustainable is not just an abstract concept, but a daily choice. Projects dedicated to reducing environmental impact, enhancing people and promoting culture are part of our strategy for a better future. Enhance your team today! #atlantisheadwear #sprincleanup #spring #corporateculture #sustainability
On Saturday, April 6, we had no time... to waste! In fact, the Atlantis team committed their morning to restore the shine to the city parks, cleaning them of trash left on the ground and in public green spaces The initiative, promoted by the Rotary Club, is part of an environmental education program in schools, which Atlantis joined with great enthusiasm and fun! #atlantisheadwear #headwearevolution #sustainability

We need more housing to accommodate population growth, but it's crucial to integrate environmentally sound planning and development practices for a sustainable future. Take Larrabee Springs, for example. They've embraced green-built practices, constructing more than 340 affordable, solar-powered homes while prioritizing environmental stewardship. By investing in green building techniques, they've not only created housing to meet the needs of our community but have also heavily invested in improving the surrounding land and ecosystems, restoring and creating 23 acres of wetlands, buffers, and stream corridors. It’s a model worth repeating! To create a more sustainable future for generations to come, we should ensure that the land we inhabit — and its ecosystems — continue to flourish. . . . #SustainableDevelopment #EnvironmentalStewardship #GreenBuilding #LarrabeeSprings

To all my sustainability friends and colleagues that may be visiting NYC for #ClimateWeek, I'm keen to reconnect f2f, and brainstorm on our biggest implementation challenges to drive measurable impact - text or message me. I know this week will be very busy and full of learning and networking. Here's some tips to maximize your time: 1) Pace yourself - you don't have to do everything - being constantly busy, even when you've burned some carbon and $$ to get here for a few days, isn't a badge of honor. Like so much of our work, it's QUALITY not quantity, that matters! (skipping a group dinner to review and process new learnings isn't a bad choice!) 2) Take Vitamin C, eat well, drink water vs. too much coffee or 'spirits', take advantage of breaks and walk around, take in the fresh air near the river, walk the High Line - https://lnkd.in/ea9XeRkb, etc. 3) Have an objective for the week, and try to accomplish it. 4) (and this is a twist from something Cecile Oger did for the BSR conference years ago) - Make a personal commitment as the Week wraps up/you head home and write it down (yup, on paper) and send it to a trusted sustainability colleague to strike up a convo and help to keep yourself accountable 5) Do the hard work! (make this time and money that you, your organization, etc. invested worth it!) Cheers, and welcome to NYC!

A new community-driven movement, the 'Sweep, Sweep' campaign, is inspiring individuals across the United States to take action for a cleaner and healthier planet, starting in their own neighborhoods. Co-created by Eva Almeida, Audrey Star, SK Cummings, and Sk Almeida, the initiative emphasizes that individual responsibility plays a crucial role in safeguarding the environment. 'If we want to save our planet, we need to start with our cities. Every effort counts,' explained Audrey Star, a prominent figure in the entertainment industry and a passionate advocate for sustainability. Through volunteer clean-up events, educational workshops, and a robust social media presence, the 'Sweep, Sweep' campaign encourages citizens to unite and preserve the beauty and well-being of their local surroundings. The initiative aims to build stronger, more connected communities while promoting urban cleanliness and environmental preservation. 'We want people to feel empowered, not just to clean their surroundings, but to come together and take pride in the places they live,' said Eva Almeida, co-creator of the campaign. @audreystarperfumecollection #sweepsweep #environmentalstewardship #communitydrivenchange

Sustainable Community Planning Ideas: Building the Future Together Sustainable community planning is about designing neighborhoods that meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to thrive. Key ideas include incorporating green infrastructure, promoting mixed-use development, and enhancing public transportation. By integrating renewable energy sources like solar and wind, and using eco-friendly building materials, communities can reduce their carbon footprint and conserve natural resources. Designing for walkability and bikeability ensures that residents can enjoy a healthier lifestyle while decreasing reliance on cars. Additionally, fostering local food systems through community gardens and urban farms not only provides fresh produce but also strengthens community ties. Water management is another crucial aspect, with strategies like rainwater harvesting and greywater recycling playing a significant role in conserving this vital resource. At our self-sustainable city project, we’re applying these concepts to create a thriving, eco-friendly community.
