#ICYMI: We published the Blueprint for Regional Mobility: 5-Year Refresh, an update of the region’s first employer-led transportation agenda from Baltimore to Richmond for an equitable, innovative and seamless superregional transportation network that enhances economic competitiveness and quality of life. Recognizing major shifts since the original publication in 2018, we’ve identified priorities that reflect today’s regional landscape and ongoing discussions with cross-sector stakeholders: 1️⃣ Implement sustainable funding for regional transit agencies, including Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and Maryland Department of Transportation MTA; 2️⃣ Advance the Red Line light rail project in Baltimore; 3️⃣ Restore Washington, D.C. as a world-class passenger rail hub through the Washington Union Station Expansion Project and the new Long Bridge; 4️⃣ Restore Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge; 5️⃣ Support transit-oriented development and economically competitive land uses; and 6️⃣ Facilitate employer signaling on infrastructure investments. We've been doing a lot to advance transportation in the Northeast, having the World Cup here in 2026 is helping drive much of this development and innovation. We have been using low level AI to help our clients understand the loads in the existing systems, and then use this data to build system enhancements. #AECOM #LightRail #Transportation #Innovation

Transportation impacts every one of us. Our public participation plans reflect our commitment to providing opportunities for meaningful engagement with the communities we serve. Two draft plans are currently available for public review and comment. We’re looking for your comments on either or both plans by May 10, 2024. Our 2024 Public Participation Plan will guide public involvement for the next five years. A second participation plan specifically outlines engagement that will take place around the 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) update. The MTP helps us plan for our region’s growth and plan for tomorrow’s transportation needs. Public input is a critical part of the planning process, and we want to hear from you. 💡 Creating EVENT highlight videos is super easy! Here is how to do it in 3 simple steps: 💡 1) 🎯 Get a shot list together, you need: > Guests shaking hands, meeting & greeting & networking (good vibes) > Speakers on stage presenting information (expertise) > Engagement from the audience (Q&A / discussions) 2) 🎯 Get a couple of mini-interviews after the event. > Ask just ONE question to each interviewee ( e.g. key take away / what is the ONE thing they learned at the event and found MOST interesting) note: you don't want to overwhelm people with questions. Make it simple & easy. > Make sure you have a mix of people doing the interviews: male & female AND a variety of thoughts from senior to junior people (demonstrate a wider perspective). 3) 🎯 License some good music & edit it all together. Keep the edit short and edit to the beat of the music: max 2 minutes in length. The aim is to have a quick demo of expertise and the value for those who attended (and will attend your future events!!). That's it! 🎥 🎞️ 💭 Need more help? Big news for rail communities today! The FRA just rolled out over $2.4 billion in CRISI grants, funding 122 rail projects across 41 states and D.C. This isn’t just about the trains—it’s about understanding and improving the real, everyday impact on the communities where rail runs. For instance, North Carolina’s getting over $100 million to improve the NC Line, which should mean fewer delays and better service for both passengers and freight. Flagstaff, Arizona is receiving nearly $5 million to make its Amtrak station more accessible—this upgrade directly benefits residents and travelers who rely on those connections. And in Massachusetts, Springfield’s rail station will get a serious overhaul to meet the growing demand for passenger rail, making it easier for people to commute and travel. These projects will make our rail infrastructure safer, more efficient, and better integrated into the communities served. Whether it's reducing delays, improving safety at crossings, or boosting local economies by keeping freight moving, the benefits here are real and measurable. Hats off to the FRA and our legislators and administration (via the IIJA) for making these community-focused investments possible, and congratulations to all the recipients. Keep your eyes peeled over the coming days for the Broad Agency Announcements that are likely the next opportunity to fund research and development for our rail-connected communities.
