Today’s ceremonial hammer swing at Capital One Arena marked the beginning of a bold three-year transformation and a new chapter for downtown DC! The $880M+ investment is thanks to the unprecedented public-private collaboration with Monumental Sports & Entertainment Founder, Chair and CEO Ted Leonsis, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser, the DC Council and Clark Construction Group. The reimagined Capital One Arena will cement downtown DC and the broader region as a world-class sports and entertainment destination, creating an ecosystem that elevates our entire market's profile and competitive position. The project will not only modernize this iconic venue but also breathe new life into Chinatown, create new jobs, support small and local businesses, and bolster economic growth throughout the region. Moments like today remind us that meaningful change happens when the public and private sectors collaborate. This project is a testament to the leadership and vision of Ted Leonsis, Robby Moser, DC Mayor Muriel Bowser and the DC Council in shaping a vibrant and thriving future for our city and region.
