How important is experience in a particular sales cycle motion important when hiring an Account Executive? VERY IMPORTANT! One of the many mistakes I have made over the years is hiring AE's based on the wrong criteria, such as: 1. I really like the rep, I would buy from them. 2. They have experience selling in this space. 3. They have great references, and proven track record of hitting their goals. 4. They fit the culture well. Ok, these are all great reasons to hire someone, but one of the key things to not overlook is this: 5. They have experience selling products within the same sales cycle as your product. This one gets overlooked and it is so important! Having experience selling within an 18 month sales cycle, and then joining a product/company that has a 3 month sales cycle will be a hard transition for any rep, no matter how talented they are. Don't overlook this metric when hiring.

Who's REALLY hiring? I mean, who is ACTUALLY hiring? After eight months without work, I have seen every iteration of a rejection email/text, some even hours after submitting the application. I don't know what ATS companies are using but the current state of looking for job opportunities feels cold, artificial and further proves that it only matter WHO you know. Lesson? Don't burn bridges. Foster and maintain professional relationships. That said, who's REALLY hiring? I NEED to work. I've got 15 years sales experience across multiple industries, in every capacity up to Director level, and am eager to work. What have I accomplished over the years? - managed small and large sales/CX teams, both in-person and remote - driven millions of dollars in revenue in sales through both service and contracts/subscriptions. - overseen the day-to-day sales operations at a startup-turned-Unicorn. - created sales strategy that have resulted in business growth and increased revenue - have collaborated with teams like e-comm, marketing, PR, ops and CX.

What’s the hardest role to fill in your SaaS sales team? 1- Is it the VP of Sales, driving strategy and scaling teams? 2- The SDR, resilient in the face of rejection and key to building your pipeline? 3- Or the Account Executive, balancing consultative selling with quota-crushing results? What’s your biggest hiring challenge? Drop a comment or DM me, I’d love to know your thoughts.... (and then offer you a solution ;)) .......But anyway Hiring sales talent in SaaS is tough. SDRs face burnout, AEs must master complex sales cycles, and VPs need to align strategy with growth goals. Each role is critical and demands unique skills both hard and soft. (I really can't stress enough about soft skills) (shameless pitch) 👇 If you’re hiring, let’s talk. We can help you build a team that drives results, is cost effective and lets you crack on with shaping your company the way you want.

“We don’t need someone with an advanced degree for this role, what’s important for us is finding a person with experience in accounting and a great cultural fit.” I heard this on a client discovery call and it was a very refreshing perspective. Several positions in an accounting department may require advanced education in accounting or a CPA and…. It is also true that several positions in an accounting department may value experience over any educational background. It’s critical for every organization to think through what the requirements are for the role and then hire accordingly. There is no one size fits all hiring approach.

🔥 Hiring is not the solution to overworking 🔥 Why not? Because overworking is the symptom, not the cause. ... The causes of overworking are: 😧 too many clients 😧 too low prices 😧 too generalist 😧 too low value 😧 too incomplete systems ... ❌ Hiring ❌ does not solve the above ☝ ... What solves the above? 👉 address pricing problems 👉 reduce client count 👉 niche 👉 create & capture value 👉 improve systems This ☝ will solve overworking ... Hiring to solve overworking is like taking Advil to solve the pain of a broken arm. Advil might reduce the pain, but it doesn't heal the arm. If the cause of arm pain is a broken bone, the solution is a 👉 cast. 👈 The solution is not ✖ Advil. ✖ ... 🔥 Hiring is not the solution to overworking 🔥
